Agreed.

Even without doing cams I think 300 is possible....Again....waiting on bmwdon's project lol.

Whatever happened to the guy with an SS who said he witnessed a guy with a V6, with cam work, dyno a higher HP number than his SS..(but lower torque apparantly). Need to find that guy back! lol

Wow I think I'm feeling offended now...I might just go cry.

But seriously, just because you get a little flack from a few V6 owners doesn't mean you need to leave a comment directed at all of us.

We have Camaros. We want to make them our own. We will do whatever we want to do with them.

Thank you.. have a nice day.

I noticed on the Janetty Racing sheet the V6 is putting 250 hp to the tires. OK, so you need a 50 rwhp gain. Sorry but NO WAY will bolt ons and a tune get you there.

I have a RotoFab, 1 7/8 headers, no cats and and x pipe... yes I still run the factory mufflers for now... and a tune. My car runs great but it only picked up about 45 rwhp with all that. Lets look percentage... I picked up 13% with bolt ons and a tune, you want 20%. Not going to happen. The headwork and cam will get you there but man thats a lot of bank to only have 300 rwhp. Should have just got the SS. (save the why I bought an LT over an SS agruement)

Another thing to consider is torque. What do you want to go FAST or get there QUICK. To be 100% honest, I could care less about HP, its the torque I want. I want to pin you in the seat. I dont care how "fast" the car is, I want it to be "quick". Look at boosing your torque. Thats where the fun comes in.

Good luck on your quest... youre going to need it!
exactly I bought a v6 because of gas since i drive over 100 miles a day even though it would be nice to have a little more juice every now and then its not a v8 You will never get the v 8 sound so why waste money trying and it will never feal like a ss so why try to get 300 whp just more wasting money. It would be nice to have the v6 in the same category as the 2011 mustang v6 and run 13.7 1/4 and have a 5.4 0- 60 time. but to spend a couple of thousand dollars to get a little faster on a daily driver is not worth it. then you should have waited and saved up some more money and got the ss. Trust me i went through this with my mustang gt after around 5 grand on parts and labor my mpg was around 11 and on a daily driver i hardly ever realy got a chance to enjoy the mods to make it worth it in the end it was just another loud mustang that has to obey the speed limit.

Unless you're talking rats, your mice in your cars are still little toys(although they may seem big to you). This is coming from a guy with multiple rats, from 396 to 496 and from 1 carb to 2, from a powerglide to a muncie to a TKO 5-speed, but all have 12-bolt posi's with gears of some sort. None are completely stock, although the '67 is close. I have enjoyed making them all mine, and some are further along than others.

The part you aren't and probably won't ever get is just because I bought a V6 daily driver doesn't mean I have to be content with 312hp(which by the way is more than that third gen put out from the factory). At what point in modding the SS will you say"well I could've just had a ZO6"?

True, but I tried to maintian my composure, I never said anything bad about the V6 or any V6 owners and never said it was stupid to buy a V6. All I stated was that eventually it becomes a waste of money to mod them a lot. I also recall saying that its the owners choice what to do with their money but I dont think its a smart move. I guess this is another case of the Camaro5 mantra... its ok to voice your opinion, as long as it falls in line with the majority but if you dont agree, you best keep quiet.

So... when I was called the "ss thread jacker" and told to go play in my own threads... thats I tired to keep on track, even offered suggestions to the OP on how to get the most out of a V6 but then some yahoos come in here and cause a big deal about why they want to mod their car... fine, whatever, your perogative, but I still feel its a waste of good money... sorry.

The funny thing is, the Vette guys and other "big boys" are laughing at you calling your "toy" a "big toy".

It is all a matter of perspective, there is always a faster car just around the corner so the point should be to get a car you enjoy driving because unless you have unlimited funds, there is always going to be someone turning their nose down on you because your car isn't as fast as theirs.

Doesn't mean you can't tinker and try to improve whatever your "toy" is though.

I dont really care what you have... I dont have the 89 because of its amazing display of unadulterated power... believe me, I know its not fast or quick but we got it brand new and it is still pretty much stock... I know your LS would eat the IROC for breakfast. Very proud for you. As for the SS being a small mouse... maybe a 6.2L is small but I am curious as to the actuall HP ratings at the wheels of all you "rats". I have seen cars with GINORMOUS engines sticking through the hood with great big blowers put down like 350 HP so dont try to impress me with the size... Oh and try to turn or stop one of those 1st gens...

If it was a joke then it is all good, it is just hard to get across the meaning sometimes through the written word.

We are all Camaro brothers so lets all play nice!

I tried to play nice... people just take too much to heart and don't think first before responding.

I agree, noting tone is nearly impossible online and most things get taken the wrong way.

Yes, mom.

No, no blowers. If you want to trip down we can line them up though. I already addressed the brakes and handling. The '68 got a 4-wheel disc set-up from a 2000 T/A and coilovers and the 5/8" sway bar got ditched for a 1 1/4" job. Does it handle as well as a new car? No. Is it still worlds better than it was? Yes. I'm looking at going to a rack/pinion steering to deal with some of it. And it is from a car than weighs 3400 lbs with me in it.

Yes, my LS has more hp, your IROC has me on torque, and probably by a couple hundred pounds in weight(not sure though). I won't bash it. I bought a '90 Z28 brand new when I was stationed in Germany.

You just can't get me to buy off on the "should've got a V8" mantra.
I've got a V8. I've got a few. I now have V8 power(maybe not LS3 power) with V6 economy. When the other rides are getting around 10mpg it's nice to see 24.

And yes, it feels like you're bashing.

jrhaus76, I respect you for sticking to your guns and not just exploding in this thread lol.

But anyways guys, can we just raise the white flag and just forget this little spat here?

I think anyone here can agree that it is not cost effective to try and get a V6 to those rear wheel HP numbers if all you want is power. "Could've had a V8" is the saying you hear alot. But its just plain neat to see what can be done. In the process we get to find out what works and what doesn't. Getting the V6 to 300 rwhp N/A is like the V8 guys trying to get to...(oh I dunno what a good number is) 420 rwhp N/A. Its awsome we have guys here on the forum willing to do and try things that most of us wouldn't or just simply can't for whatever reason.

But if anyone thinks it can't be done without FI, I think they've got another thing commin!

Now...it may be too late, but if this thread gets back on topic that'd be just great lol.
