Go for the oxygen, regardless of the octane.

I use BioBorEB which is a ethnol removing fuel additive. And noticed great improvements in fuel economy and performance. Usually you can find it at Academy or a fishing tackle or boat shop.

After 2 tries of pulling #5 & 20 fuses on my 2012 camaro in the past two months, this has not made any difference in the power. Maybe only works on 2010 & 2011, so if you have a 2012, don't waste your time.

Thinking about testing out a 12 model GT. I love my 2SS and I have always loved camaros but for what I paid for the car I feel that I should get what was sold to me. I still think GM should do a recall and reflash cars that suffer from this problem.

From several of the previous posts, I think it is a pretty weak argument that the fuel-map system needs to accomodate any and all types of fuel and world-wide driving conditions that theoretically may be encountered...lol...Because of this our Camaros are stuck with a condition that GM will not correct...(Even though it can be corrected/improved with an after-market tune)...I think their reasoning is due to several factors... Those of us who are aware of this fuse-pull problem are a very small and easily ignored minority of owners...Also, I think it is no accident that the Camaro is intentionally kept as a "middle-class" car, that is, if you don't like it, well, you can always step up in quality/performance to...the Corvette! My guess is that were this an issue with the Corvette community, it would be remedied in a heart-beat....The screws have traditionally been put to the Camaro to keep it the "few years behind the Vette"... Even several "mods" on this forum have chided us from time to time that we put our Camaros on "too high of a pedastal"....lol...We are no where near the top of the food chain...Unhappy with stock Camaro performance?...No worries!...Just move up to the next line of cars...lol |

the spark timing fuse pull issue you guys have created is not the same thing as fuel trims. many people are so confused about this. if anything, feel happy we have the ability to pull fuses to reset. if other cars have the same issue, they am never know. so what does that mean? no issue? lol. ignorance is bliss. not knowing you have a problem may really mean you don't have a problem. haha. just FYI, vettes have different cams, exhausts, etc and also weigh 1000 lbs less. it's not a timing learn logic issue that makes the camaro slower. come on guys, really? |

Higgs...no worries...lol...Just sayin' I sort of understand now why GM won't "fix" this (as an tune would)...As you said, the vast majority of SS owners probably use low octane...unless the owner is conscientious about the fuel, warrantying a tune, would probably be unworkable....I'm good with just the fuse pull, for now...If I want to pull the trigger and risk the warranty thing...I'll go tune...all good... |

Just thinking, if the car is tuned for high octane only, no way the factory would warranty that, if running low-octane would cause problems for a "tuned" car... |

LOL, I hope the vast majority of SS owners aren't using low octane. If that's the case, they should've just bought the V6 and saved about 20K. An SS on the low octane table is slower than the V6. There was a thread a while back about how an SS guy was talking crap to a V-sixer at the track. They ran each other, and the SS lost. He ran in the 14's. It's possible it was driver error, but more likely he was on the low octane.

I think that is unfortunate, and would like to believe otherwise...but I think it's born out by the fact that all dealerships aren't constantly bombarded with unhappy owners wanting a fuse-pull fix, and why the cars weren't built with the condition of "Use Hi-Octane ONLY or your warranty is VOID"...lol |
