Note to self: Getting thorugh on-call week: Positive mental attitude...positive mental attitude and repeat as needed: everything will go smooth this week, everything will go smooth this week, everything will go smooth......

On a more serious note, having been on here now for a little over a year, I wanted to thank everyone for your friendship and the laughter, the advice and the camaradie ( uhhh Camaro? ).

You are the wind beneath my wings.

Happy Tuesday all.

Are under hood goodies the same as underwear? Ladybug is a little easy (just ask Lightning) - she'll lift her hood for anyone...
Love you, too Linda! And all of you old farts... you're the best group of friends ever

We had a minor tragedy at our house today at least according to my wife. We had a robin that built her nest and had her babies at what is probably the worst sopt in my yard in a shrub at the base of my deck stairs right where the dogs go into the yard.

I have been going out with the dogs since they discovered the nest about a week ago keeping my one dog Helmut away from the bush since he keeps trying to get at it. Well my wife got home first today and did not watch him as carefully as I did and he jumped up and knocked the 2 remaining baby robins out.

He immediately got one in his mouth and killed it before my wife could get it away from him. The other one was able to hide and she found it about 20 min later. It is not able to fly yet but looks pretty close to being able to he gets up a little before coming back down. She was able to shoo it beyond the fence into the woods next to us and the mother was chirping and watching her move him.

We are hoping that he will make it with her help. I will be removing the nest from the shrub in the next day or so to avoid it happening again. My wife is not happy with Helmut now but I told her that for him it is just instict and that the bird picked a bad spot for the nest.

Thanks Linda. Yes, those are my Loubies. Looking forward to the day when I can wear them with the matching accessory. The spring rainy season has started...so maybe during the summer rainy season???

I guess it is that time of the year zandron263. This weekend Hubby was mowing when 6 tiny bunnies scattered in every directon from out of a nest under the fence by the carport. Also a terrible place to put a nest. We suspect Funny Bunny was displaced from wherever she planned to have then by the garage construction. Mike came & got me & we hurded 2 back into the nest, 2 to a snug spot under the fence & 2 to the neighbor's shrubs. I am not a cat person or a dog person, I am a rabbit person. They were barely big enough to forrage on their own but not very good at speed hopping yet. We watched then the rest of the day but have not seen any of them since then, nor the mother (not a very good mother it seems). I have been more at peace with it than I would have expected. I know they will not all make it nor, sadly should they. This area could not support that many bunnies that would multiply in crazy ways. There are lots of cats, dogs & hawks in the area. Funny Bunny has been around here for quite a while but what will/has become of the bunnies?????????? I would have tried to rescue & take them to our local wild animal rescue facility at other points in my life. Older & wiser? Jaded? Realistic? I'm not sure.

I was just reading the other day that the mother bunny only visits the nest as little as once or twice a day. And that it's quite normal for the nest to be unattended. Often people will mistake this for abandonment, and take the babies to animal rescue. They get overwhelmed this time of year, and want people to know that the babies are usually better off left alone.

Maybe my instincts are better now. Thanks for sharing that. I know more about domestic rabbits than wild ones.

Maybe an appreciation that some things can take far better care of themselves than we ever could?

Gary, I've been meaning to ask, where did you get those great smilies?
