Linda he is right the CAI is super easy to install. I am hardly a mechanic and I had it done in 45 min. I also painted my own engine cover and fuse box as those are easy too. Just have to be patient when masking. I wish I could do more but for bigger jobs like my exhaust I take it to a pro.

Had a productive weekend. Washed the Camaro, cut the lawn and went for a 6 hour drive yesterday. Today I lubed the slide out room in the RV, drained the water out of the pool cover, turned on my sprinker system and fixed a broken sprinkler head. Time to throw some steaks on the grill and have a cold beer.

I have been trying to muster the courage to try doing my engine cover & fusebox cover myself. I'm pretty artsy/crafty but I have seen so many folks who messed theirs up that I'm chicken.

Sounds like you have earned that steak & beer. I earned mine yesterday & just came home from my inlaws where we did not have grilled steak but ribs, brats & chicken wings along with all the fixins. It was delicious but not so good for the diet. Now it is time for the beer (mother-in-law sent a case home with us. She always gets us wine & beer on post. Just one more reason I love my mother-in-law) So.......... Cheers!

You know what? As much as I like yours, I think I won't put that on Lightning. (He is afraid of identity theft!!!!). However, I have a vinyl cutter and could do my own if I change my mind.

Well, that's it. I have succumbed to my mushiness and adopted a cat.
We will pick him up tomorrow after dinner. They will have him neutered and a microchip implanted.
He is soooo adorable ! He is a 5 month old male tabby.
I am so excited !
Early Congrats on your new arrival.

Thanks for the advice. Now, can I come over for some steak and beer? That sounds yummy!

You should go fot it if your crafty I bet you would do a great job. I liked my Camaro one so much I also did it to my Silverado. Here are a few pics to inspire you. The only tools I used were painters tape and a razor knife to trim the tape.

This is exactly why I had my mod guys do it. They were painting the cai before install anyway, so it worked out well with timing. But, I'm a chicken too.
You could get a spare engine cover to practice on, or to use as the "show" cover, that way if you don't like it, you can just try again... Gary put lighting in his, and got a spare one just in case he messed up with cutting it... I don't think they're very expensive.

NICE JOB, looks great! Is that the GM strut tower brace that simply bolts up to exisiting threaded holes? I've been thinking about getting that next, after I install my CAI that should be here later this coming week.

My ears were burning! I can't remember if I posted a picture of this here. So here is what she is talking about:

The V-6 cover was around 50 bucks on GM Parts Direct. I don't know what it is for you V-8 folks. And yes Jay, the lightning comes in blue!

It was a beautiful day today. Maggie got off work early and took me for a drive. We skirted the Cascade Mountains for a little ways North of where we live. I wound up taking her up to show off my "secret mountaintop airbase". We got some great pics there.
