Technical question I hope someone can answer for me. This past Friday night at the track I made one half decent pass clicking off a 14.7 (no where near my best of 14.2 before lt headers) for what ever reason I haven't been able to hit near my best time be it weather or bad track prep. I did change my wheels from stock 18's to staggered 20 ' s so I know that cost me a bit of time.
Now the technical part I've tried various techniques of launching nanny's on and off and rpms at different levels but my 60 ft times are horrible and the car feels like it spins but my friends keep telling me they don't see my tires break loose when I leave the line. Is there some kind of safety feature or my torque converter slipping to make my car feel like It's spinning off the line?
2010 auto, lt headers , cold air ,trifecta and pypes cat back are my mods

How was the weather both times? I know mine can vary 3-4 tenths just between bad air and good air. I have had it vary here from 3500DA to 800DA.

I launch with nannies off and even with the nitrous I don't spin a whole lot, and without it I don't at all. That being said you can spin a little that wouldn't be noticeable to bystanders unless they were really looking at it. Are you still on the stock rear end? If you are, depending on what side your friends are on they might not see the one wheel spin. I say if your 60' times went down you are either spinning or bogging down. Mine is similar to your setup as well with the exception of the nitrous.

On my better runs it's been in the 50's and below this weekend was around 65-75 ~ my 60' time went from 2.1 to 2.3 and 2.4 on the last run it did feel like it went into "limp" mode so I let off and just rode the rest of the track like a Sunday cruise. I have been considering the nitrous rout and a set of dr's or slicks on my stock 18's

If you haven't done it, I would invest in a limited slip SS diff swap before you put down $$ on drag radials. That alone made a huge difference in my launches. Mine will hook on the street on the motor alone and run 14.2's.

No I haven't done this yet what are the biggest benefits of doing this v.s putting in 3.55 gears?

I have over 160 passes on my V6. So I have some experience as I went to the track each spring and fall for the past 4 years. So I was always adding mods and recording every pass. I have seen plenty of differences causing most of my issues. Many of which is track prep or lack of it I should say.

I always recommend launching with traction control on if using street tires, off if using drag radials.

Be sure to lower the tire PSI to maybe about 28. depending on the tire try a decent burnout. Pirellis like to be warmed up.

Launch at about 1000 rpm's.

You should be able to see low 2.0X's for a decent 60' time.

Good Luck, hope that helps some.

Thanks I've never really had these kinds of issues before I know the track I run at is never really prepped worth a crap. I've got a set of 275x40x20 Michelin's on the back and I drop psi to around 25-28 and smoke the tires as good as they can get ;-) but everything I've done and tried and I'm going slower is very frustrating but I'll be back out this Friday and try again

Might be getting the stock tires to wamred up, some become slick when this is done. Try a small burnout just enough to spin em for a moment. Check the tire PSI after each pass and keep it on the 25 - 28 range. Watch for heat soak, make a few passes and let everything cool down for 45 - 60 minutes.

Good Luck and keep us posted how you do.

I agree with rtcat600man, I do just enough of a burnout to clean the tires off and get just a puff of smoke. Seems to work the best on the General G-Max I run. I consistently get 2.0 60' with a best of 1.96.

I'll give that a try this Friday and see how she does. But technique aside is there any "safety" feature of the limited slip diff on the A6 or a way to tell if the torque converter might be slipping?
