Beatiful car. I do like the stipes over the spoiler, and this color combo is on the very top of my short list, although this car is so beautiful I am having a really hard time making my final color selection.
It's on my website.....www.hooliganbiketech.net

do you think they are going to add more strip packages from the factor, rather than the dealer putting them on the different colors?

$350,000 PLUS 10% equals $385,000. This was a tax write off for Rick, being a charity auction car. I'm sure he'll get the first one LOADED out and sell it at a huge price to some rich business guy after it sits in his dealership for some attention.

I'm guessing they just automatically added the 10% sales fee in their summary chart. But for all charity sales. Barrett-Jackson waives that.

Ok, Mikey, that includes the 10% buyers premium.

TaylorRyan.... the car was for the American Heart foundation.... It was a charity auction. Thats why it went for so much.... All of the 0001's have been (except the 53 F-bird the family auctioned lastnight) The ZR1 and the Challenger were both charity auctions.

The auction itself was great. I loved seeing how the car was proportioned in comparison to the 67 "Eleanor".

Yeah while they kept the camera on "Eleanor" during the whole intro. That pissed me off too.

I thought too the sale of the Camaro would be the highlight of the evening, but it was far from that. Disappointing auction of the car! And a further disappointment that it sold for less than the first Challenger. Of course, the Challenger was never produced in the numbers the Camaro was and they may expect that for the future too keeping it more rare. Nice to see Rick got the car though!

Actually guys I don't think the buyers won't get a tax deduction. Unless US tax laws concerning charitable donations are drastically different than most. The person/corporation that donated the vehicle will get a deduction, the buyer get's the vehicle. Since the person laying down the cash gets something in return (i.e. the car), they don't get the tax deduction.

Yea... but then you'd own a Dodge.

But seriously, as a Camaro fan I was hoping to see it go for more that $350k, but I think all things considered this is a good price. Consider these facts:
- Challenger SRT8 sold last year for $400K. The financial crisis, economic down-turn and deflation over the past year makes up most if not all of the $50K difference. Just look at the average selling prices at B-J AZ this year.
- The ZR-1 sold for $1M last year, but really the "competative" bidding (if you can call it that) stopped at $900K. The starting MSRP of the ZR-1 is more than twice the MSRP for a 2SS/RS Camaro. Plus, there is going to be A LOT more Camaros produced than the ZR-1
- MAJOR down-turn in the economy. Don't underestimate this And yes, even the rich are affected.

All this being said, the charity auction values are always overstated due to their very nature. Either way - $350K for a worthy cause. Good job Rick

Man, it was crazy watching the auction, then realizing I was watching Rick win the car. He's an old family friend (my mom's ex). I can promise you he didn't pay 350k for a Camaro, but he looks at it as a 350k donation with a cool perk. He's about as classy a guy as they come. Congrats, Rick!

With the way the US laws are, the buyer does indeed get a tax deduction but he can only claim the donation minus MSRP of the car. He bought the car for $350,000, if his options brings the car up to a MSRP of $40,000, then he can only claim $310,000 as a charitable donation.

He also donated 50,000 on the Year One Superbird because Richard Petty wanted the Superbird to go higher than the 24 Jeff Gordon car which went for 500,000. Hendricks own car, he didn't care about bragging rights. He might have been able to say his car wnet for more than a Petty recreation.
