I don't agree with your assumption that it would be best to plop the fest at one specific location permanently, especially if you want people to bring their cars. Now, a regional rotation that goes back to the same venue, that may work, but there needs to be more than 2 places on that rotation, and I have a feeling that the 'powers that be' know this, and will work to get the best turnout possible, along with the best opportunity to keep it accessible to the widest number of participants. (no those are not the same thing)
thats where we disagree, and thats okay...i see that the most successful events are permanent...sturgis-carlisle-bowling green-bike week-sema-there are many more.can,t think of one that changes locations every year and is successful..venoes that change and move , never grow..thats my opinion, so hopefully mods will actually look at these facts and prove me wrong, or stand up and make a decision for the c5 fest to grow

Something else to think about is all the major storms, tornados and hail outbreaks in the midwest/central US during this time of the year.

Joliet speedway and drag strip are also in this area.
Although I don't own a Camaro (yet) and just attended C5FestII, I would like to suggest a few venues:

Joliet/Chicago: I was just about to chime in about Chicagoland Speedway and Route 66.

Indianapolis: Indianapolis sounds like a good location due to its motorsports history. You have both the Brickyard and the strip used for the US Nationals there.

Charlotte: One stop has all tracks including Zmax.

Other ideas:

Milwaukee, WI
Detroit, MI

Take a look at this: http://www.na-motorsports.com/Tracks/PA/

But not as common in those locations. Remember, more tornados mean more storms (with hail).

There are tons of great autocross and roadcourse tracks, but very few have a drag strip.

I could really care less about a drag strip, but a good portion of people come for that reason.

I personally would love to have it Mid_ohio, I love running this track.

I also would love to drive www.drivebluegrass.com

Really? Minnesota in April?
Anyone else bringing parkas and snow tires?

Anywhere in the midwest and north during April is not feasible during Spring. In case people haven't been paying attention, snow, tornadoes, hail...

Everyone is complaining about how cold it still can get in the northern part of the midwest in mid April. Who said it HAS to be in April? May or June would work just fine too. It's a once a year deal, so I don't see what big problem having it a month or 2 later would be. There is alot of people on here that didn't go to either fest because they couldn't justify driving 1500+ miles to get there.
