Bummers there's a hold on production...however, better to get it RIGHT than get it WRONG!
I haven't even started negotiations with the sales person or test drive a Camaro...I have no idea what to expect other than a Fine Production Camaro. Just the fact that GM wants to do some QC, should say volumes of how they feel about this car as well.

I guess the computer and micro wave ovens have made us humans just too impatient and given us the attitude of "I want it NOW!".

On the bright side, at least this will give me some time to read up on the Owner's Manual that has been posted (Thanks...Great Job!) so when it does come time to negotiate I can tell the sales person what this car has and what it doesn't have...as well as what it can do, and can't do.

Of course we all have our own situations as to why we need the car now as oppose to later....other than just wanting it!

There's not a hold on production.....QC has been extended a couple more weeks and.....the 3-1 thru 3-6 DOSP [ order cycle ] has been postponed

I talked to a GM rep today, because 10 days ago I was scheduled for a build week of 3-12 and wanted to find out if it had changed because of the QC extension and DOSP cycle postponement and they said I was still sheduled and production was going foward with the current orders.

Thinking about the time when my dad was looking for a new Malibu in 1981.
Our longtime salesman hesitantly pulled out a newly arrived car that had not been PDI'd yet. He warned us. The car barely started and once running barely held idle. We declined to take it on a test drive.
GM has come a long way since those days of sending dealers cars that THEY then would have to fix when it was management's responsibility to QC their product.

My car actually went to QC for a few days and I have no idea why.....what I do know is that when I got my car I had ZERO issues....none of teh common little issues that others had like spoiler nuts loose, ,rocker panel clips, battery cable thing etc.....

And this is just like the launch of the 5th gen...people searched day and night to see when their cars were coming...we even had threads that you could track your car at pretty much every stage of the process.

This latest QC hold, constraint or whatever you want to call it is no different.......GM found something they did not like and are fixing it......PERIOD.

What amazes me is that people actually get upset about this.....I would rather wait a few days and get my car and it be right , than GM push the car knowing this might not fly......Just imagine if they let something go no matter how minor it was....I cand see the threads now....
" I paid XXXXX and the car is falling apart" Why can't GM build the car right the first time....We have all seen the threads where something is wrong and people start throwing knives about GM....give it a rest.

And for those who think that the European cars are superior?????? People have their opinions and I have mine,,,,,doesn't mean either are wrong just means they are different which makes this country great....we can have our own opinion...

I will say this though...I got my car on July 1, 2009 and no matter how many ZL1's, Z28's they build unless someone either steals mine or it is damaged beyond repair I will always have my car..... GM did a great job in the 5th Gen and I am sure that when the ZL1 finally hits the roads that their owners will feel the same way.........

So just relax it will be here before you know it. JMHO

Well, I think I'd take it with a grain of salt, a couple weeks ago there were VINs popping up every day, so far nothing. Either way I hope they start up soon. It's cool that you actually spoke with a gm rep and got some info.

Thank you but I would not go that far. I am not the type of individual who likes to do other peoples job better than they do while they are the ones getting paid for it.

It's not as simple as saying that the person behind the phone at Customer Service is the idiot. Some of them do the best they can given the tools and training they are given. Others are really bad at their job despite being well trained and given the best of tools. GMConnects is about changing the manner in which customer service is delivered in the automotive industry.

I can say this, we are working with GM at the strategic (executive) level and we hope to have an important announcement out in the near future.

This is all very normal for a new model roll out. Go back and read about the Coupe introduction back in March 09 thru the 4th of July 09. We have also seen this very same playout occur for the Volt, Cruze, Regal,Equinox,Terrain and the Sonic. These other models all have their own forums and you could also see their scenarios play out. It is normal for the early build QC hold to run up to 75 days in some cases and the terms are to be expected. Back when the first Zl1 came off the line Hylton and I both tried to explain that it is very possible that a significantly later build will actually be delivered prior to the the release of all of these early build cars. Once again, this is normal.
It does not mean anything is wrong with the cars. It only means that all of these cars are checked with a fine tooth comb to evaluate the parts suppliers and the production line specifications and tolerances. Please try and relax. We did it by sharing projected mod projects and silly pictures.. These cars are with out a doubt going to be worth the wait. Chevy is not trying to make you mad or sad by holding your car hostage. Its a new model rollout! Larry

Instead of saying a generic, we want the car to be perfect before the customers receive it? i think i'd rather hear of an actual problem that they've encountered and that they're correcting. thats just me

if we told you that the flux capacitator was the issue - we would then get another - oh - say - 150 questions about that issue.......

No matter what we say ...it won't really calm some down...........

Again - we are doing this to ensure that all is as it should be.......
