I'd suggest visitng a "higher end" dept. store, ie; 'MACYS', etc., and look at their bath towels.

Some might say thats a little "excessive", but the money I spent on the bath towels I bought there years ago was money very well spent IMO. Look at brands such as Fieldcrest. And buy only (2), one for drying, one for polish removal. That'll get you through the weekend.

I plan on doing the complete Zaino thing this weekend. I didn't buy any blonde towels () but they are on order. What can I use in the meantime? I know you've said 100% cotton towels made in the USA and that the brand you use is no longer available so what else would you recommend that's readily available at a store? Different brand of cotton towel? Different type of towel (like waffle)?

Your help is always appreciated!!

Hey again,

For hand polishing, what pads do you use? I am nervous about getting a random pad from AutoZone or Pep Boys.

Thanks

Meguiar's Scratch-X.

Also, I am thinking about getting this product:

I would just use the hand polisher though...

I live in the mid-south where the #1 enemy to my paintwork is atmospheric and road dust.

Let's say that I spend a long time detailing my car with Zaino products. After two or three days out on the roads the car looks dirty again. Or dusty, to be more accurate. However, I don't have the time (or energy!) to go through the whole detailing process again so soon.

What's my best option to get the car looking clean again?

Incidentally, would this give my paintwork sufficient protection (car is Imperial Blue):
Wash with Dawn
Clean with clay bar
Wash with Z-7
2/3 applications of Z-2 PRO (with ZFX)

Thanks!

My car was outside, as it usually is :( uncovered - since it doesn't come in until tomorrow, and the sprinklers were not set properly. It soaked the entire drivers side and rear. Hard water spots everywhere! It sat that way for 4 days! :(

I washed & rewaxed the car this Saturday morning - previously put 3 coats of Zaino on her The water spots just washed right off and I was SO relieved! Only issue was the GFX were not installed when I waxed her, so those spots were harder to get off :(

Just ordered some more Zaino products! That stuff is great!!

Well I washed the car this past weekend and I've come to accept the fact that no matter what you do, you're going to scratch the clear coat. I washed the car with just water to get the dust and dirt off. Then used Meguiar's car wash with a microfiber wash mit that was brand new. Then I used the Meguiar's Ultimate Quik Detailer using brand new Meguiar's microfiber towels. Followed all the directions to a T. It all looked great but then today underneath the midday sun...what do I see? The dreaded scratches!

The only reason I'm not crying? I have Zaino. Since I didn't receive my blonde towels just yet and did the above thinking it wouldn't do any damage. I guess Zaino will have to save the day. I am totally going off their reputation so I hope it pulls through. Z-5 here I come! I will most likely do two rounds of Z-5 and then finish with Z-2. I went to 6 different stores including Macy's looking for cotton towels made in the USA and found zero!

So...what did I do wrong besides not having enough patience to wait for the blonde towels so that I could have just started off doing the Zaino process??

I emailed Sal by the way and he said it would be safe to use either Z-5 or Z-2 on the rally stripes.

What did you dry with? Personally, I wouldnt dry w/ anything other than waffle weave microfiber drying towels (well, I guess an electric leaf blower is acceptable)

Funny you should ask...I used a brand new Meguiar's Waffle Weave Drying Towel!

Like death and taxes being the only certainties in life, so too are scratches in clear coats!

I've been drying with expensive, 100% cotton white towels. Can't find any made in USA though :(

I also have some swirls - black in the sunlight is beautiful, but nothing hides :( Oh well!

I baby it the best I can. CA Cover is due today! SO, I'll be dusting, and Zaino Z6 her this evening, and then covering Yeah! I HATE she lives outside all night & day...

Love her though! Love the shine!

Ed,

When claying my car, what do you recommend for lubrication? Z6 or Z7+water mixture?

Thanks!

Lubricant should be the car wash soap (Z7) and water. I put it in a spray bottle. The instructions actually tell you the amounts.

http://www.zainostore.com/Merchant2/...C&Store_Code=Z

"To use the clay bar, you spray a water-based lubricant (1/2 a cap of Z-7 Show Car Wash with 16 ounces of water) on a small area of your car and rub the bar back and forth with light to medium pressure."

Ed,

I really like the Zaino Cotton towels. However, they seem to get soaked through very easy because they are so small. This leaves streaks on the car when I try and dry it. Am I doing something wrong?

Are there other towels you recommend?

Also, I know have a TON of swirl marks that I can't figure out where they came from. I waxed the car twice. And use chenell (SP) mitts for washing.
