The rear most tail section should measure .659inch-.696inch from the Lower R. to the cut end.
(We have tested and installed them out to .750inch)

After looking at some of these I went out and checked mine and it had shifted. The way the slots were lining up with my modified upper radiator mounts the slot was right up against the mount on the passenger side. The engine would torque over to that side on hard acceleration and it ended up wedging up that side and taking things out of alignment. After looking at 67GTO's setup I went with a modified version of his. I removed the rubber insert on the driver's side(it still will hold the radiator in) and completely removed the passenger's side. This keeps me from cutting the slot wider and I don't run the risk of it torquing over on that radiator mount again. I was able to get it sit flush the first time and after looking at it I am a lot happier the way it now sits.

Wow, guys, I don't know about this. I'm #20 on the group buy list, and I think I'm going to email VR and tell them to hold off on my order for now. I see a few problems with this, and my gut is telling me to wait...

  • Fitment & quality control issues in this thread and the V8 threads
  • From the pics, I just don't see a smooth path for the air flow. It looks like it's gotta come through the grill, go almost straight up, hit the bottom of the hood and then go into the air filter.
  • Does that black collar around the filter really seal to the hood? It doesn't look like it. What's to stop all that hot air getting pulled in from the engine bay?
I wanna see some real world results before taking the plunge.

Honest serious SOTP. I have a different car after 85miles with this on. Only mod on car until tonight (Barton short throw goin in)
Was it just an issue of tightening down those bolts on the radiator bracket as much as you could?

Hmmm that's cryptic, you can't just say? Would probably save people some time.

Mine looks exactly like yours now. I removed the radiator brackets and now it butts up nicely to the throttle body. I have the same clearance as you vertically and I also measured horizontally, which i am getting about 1 1/4". I went back to the bolts that were on the car originally to bolt the wing on.

i'll post pictures in a little bit.

I'm #3 on group buy list 2 and after some of what I'm reading I'm starting to get nervous about this. I want this intake to be all I've heard its supposed to be but it seems theres quite a few problems.

I think the only thing to be concerned about in your points above are the fitment issues. The rest of it (the design) seems to be just fine as everyone seems to love the performance....its just the fitment isues people are having some trouble with.

I just talk to them and I muist say they are great guys.. they just want me to throw away the bottom piece in the trash and they are going to send me a new one sometime next week.

Hopefully the next piece will be on the money so I wont have to tighten too much so it can stay lined up with the throttle body.

For now I'll keep my Injen. Injen was a piece of cake to install compared to this and everything was perect as to fit.

Good to hear. I just got back from a drive, saw your issue and went right out and moved the band clamp as close as possible to the intake and and tightened down just enough to hold the hose on.

The TB does get hot.
