Anyone heard anything about the LS8 (the LS7 replacement)? It was rumored that this would be the Z06 motor replacement (face it, the LS7 is almost retired) and potentially the Z28.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a big muscle car fan. I'm just hoping that GM's strategy is right and not just throwing hp and a suspension in the Z. What I want is a 302 Boss "type" car. The new Boss is my cup of tea and is a possible future candidate for my MID-life CRISIS......

For sure, but why should Ford not try to lure a Corvette customer into their dealers? I see the GT500 as a pony AND sports car. Besides the GT500 is a fantastic all-around car.

Specter was not too far from home, Still think single slot matched the front bumper much better.

Can't wait to see the final product !

There is an article I think in Left Lane News concerning the LS8.

The Z28 is GM's attempt to go after the GT500.

As of now they don't have anything we know about to go after the Boss.

Go talk to your local shop and see how much a forged long block with ARP fasterners, etc, with heads/cam, fuel system etc costs plus labor then get back to me. Don't let your jaw hit the ground too hard. You're talking over 20 grand easy.. For just the parts...

The LSA motor is a cam change, upgrade in injector and pulley change away from 700, I'd add a boost a pump and a fuel regulator for insurance on rock steady fuel pressure. That's less than 1500 bucks to make 700 hp.

Most people will not be pushing this motor to its limit to have fully forged internals. There is no way GM would build this with forged internals unless they sold the car at around 55-60 k which would result in no units being sold. Plus now you're in Vette, Porsche, price range.

The motor is detuned conservatively to make 556 hp all the time and will keep the warranty. That's designed for the guy that accidentally puts 87 octane in. And it's more than enough hp for 90% of the knuckleheads out there that think they can handle that much hp LOL. Contrary to what you think most buyers will be happy with the HP numbers and put some basic bolt ons to bump the performance.
I forget what post it was I said "I'm really not a dragstrip guy(much) or a pro street or road racer, however as docile as I am I would like to be able to LOL with not much strain or effort @ the GT500 in the rearview behind me!" I have a buddy with a GT500 and his easily makes 712 HP and 688 torque at the rear wheels! I wanna LOL @ him I admit it. Yes BTW I have had several vehicles with that much power, ehh well ok 3 at least, and handling it is about maturity and exercising restraint. OH and countersteering for drifting is a pwn skill as well but its more experience than anything. Maybe when i see the numbers VS the price i will be impressed, how much HP you think the LSA can maintain reliably? OH and as for the block you addressed, I can get a whole crate LS9 for under 20K ready to drop in. =) lol

There is a thread dedicated to the Camaro Mustang debate. Could we please focus this thread on what we are hoping is a soon to be released Z28?

Anyone compare the expectations of this new 'Z/28' versus an SLP ZL575?

IF Chevrolet can bring in comparable horsepower and overall performance for less money than a ZL - WITH the same quality including painted stripes and suspension work - that would be awesome.

Here's hoping...

I thought that's what we were doing? Discussing forged vs non forged seems appropriate. . . .

lol
