Hello CYN!!!
Thanks CynAgain! It has been very fun and in some ways cathartic for me to write and share some of the bits and pieces of this journey. I will be posting up some more stuff soon. I am nearing the 1500 mile break in mileage and will be changing oil and such very soon. Of course it will all get documented. I am working with a friend and soon we hope to write and produce a music video of Orange Krate that will be something other than "hip hop", "metal" or "rap" which seems to be the flavor of the day on home grown videos of cars. I can tell you that we hope to film some of it in Vegas!

Come back and visit soon.

Jim

Goodies Update...

We added a couple of novelty pieces to the Orange Krate collection! Today I picked up material and made an Orange Krate Scrap Album. The mailman also dropped off a package from ChevyMall with an Orange Krate approved orange embroidered T-Shirt. My wife's T shirt arrived but it is the wrong size. She may end up with the Hooter's Orange tank top with something embroidered! I know where this is going... don't even start! I also picked up a stainless steel frame for the recently acquired Orange Krate 2011 Camaro Poster.

I think you are going to win the ultimate Camaro fan with all of the goodies and documentation you have and stuff you are doing with Orange Krate.

Are you bringing Orange Krate down to C5FestII for the "Shootout at OK Corral?"

I am going to attempt to come down to C5Fest II. I have multiple friends who live in the Phoenix area and it would be a good time to drop in on them as well. My schedule is so busy these days it is hard to see 2 weeks ahead let alone 3 months out.

As for the documentation... if this site were to continue on for a long time and any of us were to want to sell our car...this documentation is INVALUABLE! Especially for those who chose to keep a stock version of the Camaro totally factory. Of course, as the threads point out and as we all know, there is no guarantee ANY new car is going to be the next Hemmings Gold winner!

BB... just let me know, I will make a power run to Michaels and get one for you. They had about 6 left yesterday. It has 10 clear 12"x12" plastic inserts in the binder already. I added 20 more plus 10 sheets that hold sixty 4x6 photos. I am placing all my documentation in the binder.

OCD.....

Actually I helped judge a car show not long ago, and the documentation book the owner provided went a long way Towards the high marks he got...he won his class by the way...

Rough Weekend...

OK... so I posted a message about my friend Ollie who passed Jan 1st and had the memorial service last Friday. I got home late from Temecula. I slept in on Saturday only to awaken to find out my best friend's Dad had passed away Saturday morning. He lives near Phoenix. My friend and I go back to early 1960s in elementary school! He is two years younger than me. His Dad was a retired lion tamer who worked at a place called "Jungleland" in Thousand Oaks. His Dad was attacked by lions around 1964 and was disabled ever since that incident.

I can't even come close to writing all that we have done together over the years. The Dad's name is Chet and he and his wife JoAnne, were literally like surrogate parents during summers because we all hung out at their house as both parents were always home.

I will undoubtedly be heading to Phoenix soon. I will take Orange Krate to be sure. I also found out Sunday that my half brother is starting to suffer from organ failure and could pass at any time. Rough times but I am glad I have my "old friend" to take away some of the stress of all this.

Celebration - The Birth of Orange Krate

I made a trip back to the dealer today not once, but twice! I stopped to see my salesman Dave and give him a laminated photo of Orange Krate with the Camaro5.com thread for potential clients of his to come look at and get interested in the website plus see what the wait may involve. When I went back home I found my UPS delivery on the front porch. It is two boxes of "Its a Boy!" bubble gum cigars. I bought these online at: http://www.oldtimecandy.com What a fun way to celebrate your new arrival!

Upon finding the stogies I bee-lined back to the dealer and made the rounds thanking everyone that had a part in making my dream come true. They all definately know me and my car now and I hope our relationship remains strong over the years as Orange Krate and I age together. I also made a trip by a friend's house who had all kinds of ideas for my car. As I told him, "it is only cubic dollars to do all of these neat mods you have in mind for my car." LOL I told him that I really want to keep my car as stock out of the box as possible because there are so many people that are modding their Camaros that a stock one is going to be hard to find! In my head I can see Orange Krate's final phase and I will do what I can to get him to that point. But it will take time. Patience is a virtue and I hope you all keep checking back on us as we plod along.

I forgot to mention that on the day Orange Krate hit 1500 miles, I was driving down the Golden State Freeway (Interstate 5) just putting along in 55 MPH traffic and this little 4 door Toyota rolls up alongside Orange Krate on the drivers side and the car is full of young adults in their 20's. They are just pacing me and I am thinking "what next?". All of a sudden the cameras come out, they all have grins and they start snapping photos of my Orange Krate. Funny thing is he smiled as did I as the photos were taken.

Safe trips to all.

PS - See the update on Entry #179 (final update) http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showpo...&postcount=179

Lightbulb Getting Ready for First Service... GO ROYAL PURPLE!

Orange Krate is due to have all the fluids and lube services for his first time (Break in fluid removal). I didn't want to have to dig up information or rely on the local parts store to try and figure out what I need, so I emailed Royal Purple and they were all over my email! Great service and from all accounts I have read it is a great product. I look forward to SEEING the results! I picked up the Royal Purple Oil and Filter, Radiator treatment and Power Steering Fluid at Pep Boys. I also went to O'Reilly's and they said they could special order the Gear Lube, Grease, and Transmission Oil for me.

A follow up to the post oil change is in my next entry #239.
Here is their email response back as to product names/types/amounts and description. I gave Royal Purple the link to Camaro5.com and my thread and told them I would post their information. ROYAL PURPLE URL: http://royalpurple.com

Radiator Additive: Purple Ice (part #01600, quart bottle). You will need to treat you system with ¾ of a bottle. Please see product label for complete instructions.

Is compatible with most reputable greases. Not compatible with Silicone grease, polyurethanes, and clays.

Thank you for choosing Royal Purple and have a great day!

Best Regards
