Interesting update, thanks for posting.
The only change you made since the 12.19 best ET was lowering the car right? Was the air equivalent, or cooler? Were you spinning on the 1.7's or dead hooking? Edit: I watched the vid, motor didn't sound too great at the top of 1st and going into 2nd, was that where you got the most knock? Did it short shift too?

Anyway, the changes since the 12.191 are: 3.45 gears, lowering, sway bars (F&R), underdrive pulley. Technically I should be runnuing faster. However, going with the shorter gears (3.45's) may decrease the MPH. That said, looking closely at the logs, two things were happening: 1) IAT's at the beginning of the run were 140*. Bad. They didn't drop to ambient+10* until halfway through the run. Bad. It could be heatsoak of the sensor, or I'm pulling in engine air. I'm going to look into that this week. 2) Pulling timing at peak torque. This is easily fixed. I just didn't have time to do it at the track the other night. I may, however, go back out Friday night with the adjustments. And maybe with the EWP installed. So maybe one more shot at 11's, then it's cam. Should be fun. ![]() ![]() Padre

You know I plan to build a similar combo hence my interest.
![]() 1--Hmm those IAT's were pretty high, did they have you idling in the lanes for a long time? I'd assume the PCM would pull timing with higher IAT's. You know how to tune, and I don't, when would you take out timing vs. add more fuel? 2--Do you think your 1-2 shift is lower now because of the gears? The initial rpms in second gear sounded kinda low and luggy? I'm thinking if it was 1000DA and 60F that you'd solidly run 113 maybe 114... So I'm wondering if you need to touch up the shift points? I don't recall the gear for A6's, is it 3.27? I'd think at most you'd see a tenth increase in MPH...

I checked my logs and the shifts are pretty much the same RPM as with the 3.27's (stock gears for an automatic). So it appears, gear wise, that it's apples to apples. ![]() Padre |

Watched the vid again, maybe you spun on the hit? Car seemed to shake on the launch, maybe even wiggle around a wee bit?
I was thinking that the extra bit of gear would net around a tenth drop in ET and a +1 MPH, but maybe if you spun the whole pass was off. Is the car a lot stiffer with the new lowering springs?

I re-look at the logs from the other night, and I had one log that included several minutes idling in the staging lanes. The IATs steadily climbed to 140* even though the engine was already warm. So, it's heat soak of the IAT sensor. That 140* resulted in a few degrees of timing retard, which explains the launch. The mid-run KR is from full timing at peak torque. So I'll be adjusting the peak torque timing and I have reason to hope the whole pass will be a lot better. We'll also be relocating the IAT sensor to the filter (down near the foglight). Basically, it was running 12.40 @ 111 with 4* retard and a weak launch. Not THAT bad.Padre |

LOL I want you to run a new best with bolt-ons, I don't want you to do a cam yet.
![]() I don't want to clutter up your thread but had some other questions... -What rpm are you shifting, same both all shifts? -Raceweight still 40xx ish?

Clutter away!
. It helps me document the build. All shifts @ 6000. Weight 40xx. Trying on the EWP tomorrow. 2 more shots before cam: Fri & Sun. Padre |

Pardon my ignorance, what is the factory rev limiter set to on the L99 cars? I was thinking 6400 but haven't looked it up.

Respectfully throwing in my 2 cents, I would shift higher. 6200 sounds gooder.

I may try it higher, but since I knew the ultimate goal was cam+, I figured no sense in testing the limits of the L99 lifters.
Plus, I've always been one more interested in the hp/tq curves, and not shifting up and dropping rpm's to a point where hp/tq is just going down. I'm a "top of the curve" kind of guy, and have found it always worked well for me. If you look at my dyno on page 1, you'll see where I'm at on shifts: 1-2: 6000->4800 2-3: 6000->4400 3-4: 6000->4800 Padre |

How does the car do with the underdrive pulley do you have any problems with the battery or the belt slipping off?
