Those times were done by professional drivers on a well prepped track, probably good weather. If motorweek conducted some times, they would be more like the lower 14's. they rate just about every vehicle lower than all others. They probably have some crappy test drivers

Much as I used to look forward to the latest Stephen King work of fiction when I was a high-schooler, I similarly look forward to the tall tales of the mythical and mighty Nissan G-series on Camaro5.com. It's been said that truth is stranger than fiction, but in the case of the fabled Nissan G-series of Camaro5.com lore, that is sadly not the case. The truth is linked below, from a variety of reputable sources, all of them testing the awe-inspiring, legendary and all powerful VQ35HR (with DOHC...that's crazy!!!!!), which is rated at only a few hp more than the apparently turd-like but very similarly performing VQ35DE.
2007 G35 6MT, 13.9 second 1/4 mile via C+D: http://www.caranddriver.com/reviews/...edan-road-test 2007 G35 Auto, 13.9 second 1/4 mile via Edmunds: http://www.edmunds.com/infiniti/g35/2007/road-test.html 2007 G35 Auto, 13.9 second 1/4 mile via Motor Trend: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...t/viewall.html For reference, the 2012 Toyota Camry v6 runs a 14.2 second 1/4 mile: http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...ry_first_test/ so the real life G is in fact a few tenths faster than a Camry. But why waste time on the real G when the mythical G is much more interesting. I look forward to the next G35 yarn, where I'm hopeful that the "bone stock, low 13 second" G35 of the internet breaks into the 12's, and then challenges a random Camaro ZL1 (and almost wins!) at some drag strip out in the middle of nowhere. Thanks! |

As for the vq35de being turds, they were rated under pre 2007 SAE Hp rating system and typically dyno 40-60 whp less then vq35hr. Hr's are solid 13 second cars in decent conditions, as I went out and proved just for you my friend. DE's are 14 second cars and same speed as v6 Camaros. |

G35 is 13 second car. Note how my trap's drop substantially because cat heatsoaks through the first 3 runs...
(albeit on the runs were the trap speed was under 102 is where I let it automatically short shift into 4th before finish line; if I held 3rd gear to redline I trapped 102-103). But my launches and 60 foots suffer as the track's surface becomes colder later in the night, hence the worse ET's but better traps. Note how my 1/8 mile time steadily goes from 8.8 to 8.9 to 9.0. Right lane 60 foot meter is broken, left lane 330 foot meter too. As MagnumForceGB will attest too. It's all in the 60 foot, to decipher 60 foot times look at the 1/8 mile times. Going to say it went from 2.1 to 2.2 to 2.3, just a guess though. Like I have been saying it's stock, there's no tune and no gears. The ET's are all fully determined by 60 foot, best I could get on crappy primewell's was 2.1. ![]() ![]() Guys, lol. It's really not that fast. It just launches semi-decently and the shifts from the 5-speed auto are lightning quick, on par with a Volkswagen DSG IMO. My accord v6 manual is faster then the g35 from a roll in the real world(pulls 1-2 cars ish), but I don't want to get banned for insinuating street racing somehow by stating that. I race 2011 cobb Stage 2 WRX(the same one in the track vid) and pulls 2 cars or so on the g35, it's dead even with the accord v6. It's on my youtube channel.... Maybe. lol. Here's some slips from friends bone stock 2010 mustang gt auto, same night. ![]() Here's my V6 Accord, I can't launch it for the life of me. Best 60 foot was 2.38! ^ DA was about twice what it was in those runs, it was different warmer day. Got some PCD's(headers), LSD trans, tuneup for it and can't wait to go back.

Oh we know. It's fast. REALLY fast. Almost as fast as an Camaro SS. And with double overhead cams, AND 268 ft/lbs of torque, how could it not be fast? And all those rags that get 13.9 out of the 35VQHR? Well they just can't drive. Or they're lying. Or both. Because the G35 IS a 13 sec car. Maybe even high 12's, with the right tires and the right setup, and of course the right driver. Maybe even...mid 12's? Stock of course. Something to think about anyway. Well....looking forward to the next G35 thread. Maybe now the the Big G has mopped the floor with the SS, you can move on to the SRT8 6.4. That's another junk pushrod motor in a huge bloated car. Be sure and take some videos for us! Thanks!

It was a good race and quit trying to make some inapt excuses for it. ![]() You don't want to believe it, so it can't be true? Must be fictional fairytale? I understand that thought process. Most of the cars magazine's test are cars not broken in, if you look at the back in long term road tests they do performance tests(0-60, 60-0, cornering g, etc.) of cars new and at 40k miles. Typically the cars perform .2-.3 tenths better in the 1/4 and brake a little short at the end of the long term 40,000 mile evaluations, because they are broken in. Food for the thought. Want me to quote Motortrend and road and track for their 13.5 @ 106 mph and 13.6 @ 105.6 mph second runs of a G sedan? No, I'll let you find them for yourself and let you educate yourself. Now go back to your "where it rains" fairytale where everything is set in stone, and bench racing figures/statistics are the truth and the last word in every debate.
