Thanks for your help! Between you and Andy helping me I think this turned out pretty sweet!
May have to put mufflers on it though -- neighbors may get upset with the rumble ;o) -Don |

OK, I'll post the JDP Tow Hook.
First, with the bumper off, marked the location to the left of the hole you see in the bumper (about 1 1/2 inch to the edge) and used the tow hook to line up the holes. I then used and automatic punch to mark the drill points: ![]() ![]() Drilled pilot holes. I 'stepped' up each hole size and use cutting oil -- don't go full hog to the big drill bit -- they'll overheat. ![]() Stepped up: ![]() Final drill up to the 1/2 drill bit size -- installed the bolts and aligned the tow hook to the bottom of the bumper post: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() There is room for adjustment up and down as needed. When my new bumper comes in, I'll test the up/down but this should give plenty of room -- but is a shin killer ;o) -Don Last edited by hammdo; 12-11-2015 at 12:49 PM. |

Great you have it running and you have overkilled this project but I would have done the same thing. When motor is apart you can do many small detail upgrades; and many small ones equal a big upgrade in total.
Only question I have is after buying that beautiful Joe Gibbs breakin oil why you did not put 100 SOFT miles on the motor first, then drain and add your daily oil before the dyne tune with ADM? I realize you did not do a total rebuild but still new cam, lifters, heads, etc would benefit some from Gibbs oil IMHO. You are going to love your new car. And do I dare ask what could be next??? Amazing photo documentation of your project!!!!

Joe Gibbs round 2 br30 again. I did a easy run then some time between 2000 and 3000 RPM run gradually, drain and filled again with br30 to do a drive break in. Then the ls30. This is per drivens recommendations. I agree, that oil is great stuff and would recommend anyone doing this type of job use it...
Thanks! -Don Last edited by hammdo; 01-21-2015 at 12:56 AM. |
