Well, i hope they move forward with it. I have been proud of myself resisting the temptation to buy an SS for now waiting to see a Z rolls out. Not to sure of their timeline. Why 2012? Car has been in planning for 3 years already, why does it require 2-3 more? If 2012 is true, have to wonder if its a stragedy that current Camaro owners will have paid enough of their current loan off that they will be ready to buy new again.

ps...i want my Z

Z28 sounds like worth waiting for but at what cost? remember its a chevy camaro not a Corvette and should be priced as such

Why 2012?

I'm thinking that the pure coincidence that 2012 is the 45th anniversary for the Camaro might play a factor there. Because noone wants to wait till 2017 for a 50th anniversary return of the Z/28.

I was wondering about the Z28. Now I'm glad I cancelled my SS order. Something just didn't feel right about the car. Must be why. Now I'll have something as exciting as my STS-V.

Guessing MSRP will start @ $40k to provoke competition w/ the the GT500, but really will be @ $50k or more if certain dealers get their way.

Can we order now?

Chevrolet needs to basically keep it quiet and let Ford release its GT 500 for that year before they release theres. Or Ford will just combat and answer back with more power. He who laughs last laughs hardest. If they release late they can be on top. Just an observation.

I'm guessing $45K. This car will begin to encroach Corvette pricing. Ford doesn't have that problem.

Related story, my local dealer is marking up Camaros (V6/SS) up about 4K and marking Vettes down about that much.

I understand that the Z/28 been a famous label for Camaros over the years....then for one...they stop making Camaros over all and then finally they got smart and brought it back with the intentions on making the Z/28 again and then GM cancelled the production... Im happy with my SS, if they make the Z, so be it....if I want a supercharger, I will just buy one and still will probably spend less than buying a 40-50K Camaro.... just my pennies worth

But I wont... I think I will wait for the craziness to die down. Maybe further down the line but I feel 426hp is nothing to shake a stick at. This new Z28 might be alot better then an SS but I dont think it will by a huge margin. And if they say the price will stear clear of the Corvette it kinda makes you wonder if its going to be starting at $49K which may very well be the case. Options should include a carbon fiber hood, and spoiler etc.

I am sure looking foward to the first mules. Its like the fire just got reignited !
About the $49K. On the site the Corvette Coupe cost $48,565 and the artical said well under Corvette cause of UAW costs are down. Just my 2 cents, I think $42,000 on the low end and on the high end $45,000.

Unfortunately, the new GT500 starts at like 47. If the Z follows suit with the stang GT to SS pricing, the Z will be about 49k for the premium car.

Unless it has magnetic ride from the Corvette (hint hint GM) and the LS9 instead of the LSA, we're probably better off buying an SS and adding our own supercharger/turbocharger to make similar performance numbers. It'll probably be cheaper.
