How many Toyota pickups were recalled for frames rusting out prematurely to the point that spare tires bolted under and to the frame fell off in the street while vehicles were running down the road?? I could give you more examples for Toyota as well as other manufacturers, the point is all manufacturers have some issues from time to time. If you want to state "facts", then please stick to facts that can be substansiated and backed up with data, otherwise it is just an opinion (and we all have them) based on our experience which may or may not be valid.

Don't forget the trucks that had the steering component fail and kill some people in Japan and they had a big recall over there but deemed that they didn't need to recall the same part here in the U.S. because "Nobody had complained about it failing" only we find out now that people WERE complaining (the ones that didn't DIE from the part failing).

Oh, what a (sinking) feeling!

On a side note - Toyota bashing makes me laugh. If you notice in the commercials that tool Howie Long says "Chevys quality is as good as Toyota or Honda".

Hmmnnnnnnnn.... wonder why nobody says "Our quality is as good as Chevy". Oh thats right, because of the 80s and the 90s. Itd be great if their was factual data on what percentage of Toyotas made it to 300k vs Chevys or Dodges. Hopefully GM has it right finally (other than MOCIAFEs' Camaro!), for the first time in their history they have more than 2 relevant vehicles. (Camaro and Corvette)

Anway - good luck w/ everything.
I think Howie SHOULD have said "Our Quality is as good or BETTER than the level that Toyota and Honda have tricked you into thinking theirs is!"

I just want to say that my trip to the dealer was a great experience. I had a little help from some camaro5 friends..you know who you are..

The only complaint I have is that when they gave me a rental, it was a Cobalt...and driving that made me kiss my baby with all of her problems when I got her back..no offense..but a Cobalt after a Camaro is torture! I know they rent Camaros in town..I should have gotten one of them and I may demand it next time!

All of the issues seem to be fixed thus far. I am hoping it stays that way. If not, I know they will take care of me.

I am still waiting on a call back from the GM hotline..they are supposed to follow up.

My faith in GM is better now..BUT you do have to jump over some lower people to get results.

Once you get to Corporate level customer service..it totally changes.

Hopefully all will continue to go well..

Oh yeah and THANK YOU to all of the people who were helpful and did not treat me as though I was full of it. Camaro5 seems to be a great place for all camaro lovers. It can be time consuming though! LOL!

Hey, our pleasure! Glad you were able to get everything rolling along as you expected they should! Camaro5 shouldn't need to be used as leverage (not saying you did), but it does help "motivate" dealerships and higher ups into listening more carefully and treating you with more respect, even though they should be doing this for every customer anyway by default. If there is anything else I or any of us can do, please let us know! Thanks for the follow-up!

By the way, the Cobalt isn't THAT bad! Maybe if you drove a Cobalt SS Supercharged or an SS Turbocharged, you might reconsider what Cobalts can really do! Love my Cobalt, but you are right, it is no Camaro and I do feel smaller and smaller in my Cobalt all the time. Can't wait to get our 2011 Equinox LTZ!

Can you tell us more about what issues they resolved and what their explanations were in the process? Thanks!

They did nothing about the paint and will not..the bumpers and fenders do not match but apparantly they do not match on any of the cars.

They fixed the spoiler again..and removed the loose parts..

They reattached the bottom of the bottom of the car..not sure how, just know it looks better. :o)

They remolded the fenderskirt or whatever it is called.

If you read my very first post, it will tell you what they fixed before this trip.

I guess the bottom line is they are fixing the issues and giving me a loaner car when they do..hopefully they will have all of the kinks worked out soon.

They're working Saturdays, so it would be a sat or mon car.

If you are not satisfied... just go up the chain of command. It works.

I bought a Chevy pickup at a Pontiac Dealership once... the dealer said to me "The carfax came back good"

When I got home... I was curious about this whole "carfax" thing... so I logged on, paid $20 or whatever it was to join, and looked up my new pickup.

The damn thing said "Potential odometer rollback"!!!

I contacted a co-workers mom who is a friggin' badger when it comes to dealing with things... and I had HER call.

She call them up and says "I'd like to speak to the owner"

They said "He's not available, can we take a message?"

She said "Sure, tell him this is _____ ________ on the phone with _________ legal services (which was her business) and we would like to speak with him before we go public (local news agencies) with the fact that his dealerships are rolling back odometers"

She got a call back in under a minute from the owner who was on vacation.

Turns out the truck had something funky going on with the registration from another state, so when it came to CA, and then went through registration, the odometer readings didn't make sense. Everything was on the up and up, and they offered to buy it back... and when I said I liked it and wanted to keep it, they gave me a free 2 year powertrain warranty and a bunch of oil changes and tire rotations for my worries.

My point is... if you don't get what you want, go over that person's head... they have regional managers and departments to deal with these sorts of problems.
