This thread is like beating a dead horse. It's not going anywhere.

By that definition...no. By performance....maybe....yes? Call it what ever you would like to call it. Doesn't really matter. It is an awesome looking car with outstanding performance for a V6 pushing almost 4K lbs.

EDIT 2: I'm sorry this thread was resurrected, but please be warned...any LS/LT bashing and it gets closed, just like the others. We won't allow that sort of disrespect on here. CAMARO, remember, means "friend, pal, or comrade"...let's not make it an issue of engine size.
If this is the case and you closed one thread( http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...82#post2763982 ) because of a comment I made then maybe you should enforce the same rules on others (http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showth...=125714&page=2 )

What does GM have to say on the matter. Do they consider the v6 a pony/muscle car or only just the v8? Personally I think there opinion is the only one that really counts. They make the cars and decide what it will or will not be. They decided to call this car a camaro, it could of been named anything but it's not. Its a camaro because they say it is. And if they say it's a pony/muscle car... then that's what it is.
Now with all the GM employees that frequent this site I'm sure someone somewhere can get an official or unofficial word to finally answer this question and lay this to rest.

Personally I call them both sports cars.

gm is kinda funny as it is with the camaro..they really havent got it right yet...they thought the v6 would outsell the 8 and it didnt (talking about at first, I dont know now) and they said that the 8 was for enthusist and the 6 for people who enjoy the looks of the car.....i would say we have a ton of enthusist here with 6's....i consider myself one...otherwise I wouldnt of waited 9 month for my car..be on this forum and this is my 3rd camaro...and im 31 (ive owed a whole lot of cars)....im just thinking GM isnt the best source for this discussion...now myself...i consider all of these cars muscle cars..this car has more hp then a 67 350 camaro from the factory (and less wheel hop too LOL)...but they are all pony cars too...mustang, challanger, and camaro's this is the pony car war....and the winners of it...US....we get better cars though competition.

No the V6 is not muscle in todays car world but if it were making as much power as it makes now back in 69 then it would have been.

But when you can buy a car with 100+ more HP off the showroom floor then how can you call the V6 a muscle car when it gets out muscled at the drop of a hat.

Is it as fast as my big block camaros? No. Am I calling it a muscle car? No. Do I believe the muscle car dies after '72? Yes.
Don't throw the v6 in my face though, because I'll point out plenty of posts by the mighty SS who've turned slower times than my v6.

The muscle is in your head.
My '69 GTO had a 428 in it and 125 shot, ran a 13.5. 20 years ago, was the car to beat back in the day in my home town. My 2010 Camaro ran a 14.7, if i get her in the 13's I'm going to be grinning from ear to year!

You'll get there. My first run a year ago was 14.5 and now just recently ran a 13.74.

I do it 'cause I can and it's fun.

I can't help you feel disrespected when someone explains history. I never once bashed the V-6 or threw anything in your face. When talking about muscle we need to refer to back to the day when these car existed and in that day a V-6 camaro would not be considered a muscle car when you had 427's, 454's,440's and other high power big block cars. Enjoy your car for what it is and don't worry about having to defend the fact that it's a V-6.

It is a muscle car it may not have 400 horse but itll still lay waste to the pavement. Yeah we would all like to have a ton of power but alot of us cant afford it and the camaros were designed to be affordable for everyone

The only V6 Car that I would consider to be even close to a Muscle Car was the 84 to 87 Buick Gran National, T-Type and GNX with a Turbo Charged V-6. That was one of the quickest and fastest car to be buildt in the 80's and gave the 5.0 Mustang, Iroc-Z and Trans Am a run for its money.

That brings up a good point. It really isn't always about what motor the car has. But really, even in the 80's the muscle era was already past.

Those were great cars back in the day though. My girlfriend at the time had a T-type.
