This is quickly shaping up to be the electric version of Camaro SS vs Mustang GT. You decide which is Mustang and which is Camaro.

Tesla Model 3 Performance vs Hyundai Ioniq 5 N. Drag race, roll race, and braking. With a little bit of tire warm up fun. And yes the Hyundai makes engine noises. They are only heard in the cabin and they can be turned off. They obviously chose not to. This is a UK channel, so yes the steering wheels are in the wrong place.

Uh, there’s almost 60 years of history and competition between Mustang and Camaro.

That kind of talk was considered heresy in the Middle Ages.

So maybe consider this Year 1 of the Renaissance. The period that followed the Middle Ages.

Doh!! Shoulda figured that out. Guess I need another cup o’ coffee.

When we got our car my wife said she loved it except for two things:
  1. She was having trouble adjusting to having an empty area instead of an instrument cluster in front of her.
  2. No Apple CarPlay
Her Christmas present was me fixing both issues in one fell swoop. An aftermarket IC that adds CarPlay and AA to the car. $250 plus 30 minutes of my time to install. Happy wife, happy life.

Yes, I absolutely hate the lack of instrument cluster. I'm sure the minimalist design was less design and more bean counting. Do you have to use the touchscreen to adjust the air vents? That's another trend that can die.

Give me big analogue gauges right in front of me or give me death.

When Cadillac came out with the first all digital gauge cluster in ‘83 people thought it was whiz-bang stuff.

I remember thinking: it only gives you your speed and how many gallons of fuel and how many miles you have left in the tank. How is this informative?

We do, but that’s surprisingly non-eventful. Set and forget is rule of the day most days. In fact, I’d say one advantage is I don’t have to reach to shut off passenger side vents if I want to do that. It’s different, not better or worse.

Not that anyone cares, but update on my oh-so-sensible PHEV...

Since March it had gone 800 miles without the engine ever starting. Just got back from a 2500 mile trip with the battery in "hold" mode... did not need an app to find a Chevron station Now that I'm back the engine will probably not start for a few more months.

Win/win... what's not to like?

Yeah, I guess it depends on the person. It's worse in the sense that you have to look down to do it and off the road in front of you. It's like the volume controls, come on, give us a physical knob I can use via muscle memory. Yes I understand each one costs 5 cents, lol.

What did you buy? We looked at a GC 4xe PHEV before we bought my wife's '24 Blazer.
