Maybe people who aren't serious about drag racing.... Go to a track & majority of the people are on slicks, skinnies, or drag radials

Well yea its good to know what it runs in the 1/4 mile both with DR tires & with street tires. But I don't think its a big deal like everyone's making it out to be.....

You can stop the scrutiny of the video and the times. There is no mystery here. Tony and Gordon are good guys that work hard and are extremely proud of the work they have done with the ZL1 and should be.
I could care less what this magazine or that one wrote. I can tell you the GM guys ran on OEM GYs and DRs. There was little difference in the runs. The cars were INCREDIBLY CONSISTENT. As Tony said in the video they could do this all day long. As owners and drivers get more seat time the ETs will be more impressive. |

So the ZL1's posting faster quarter mile times than the GT500. Good to know.

I bet actual drag slicks mounted on drag wheels with skinnies in the front would buy a lot more than 1/10th in the 1/4 mile, if they are available in the right sizes and offsets for a ZL1.
I wouldn't be all about traction either, the reduced E/T would also come from reduced rolling resistance in the front from the skinnies, and the reduced unsprung mass of the super light drag wheel on the back. That imbeded run from the Boss 302 shows an actual drag wheel for reference. Drag Slick on Drag wheels w/ skinnies are far superior to a drag radial mounted on an OEM or OEM style wheel. |

Nice run. It's good to see this car finally showing us what we all wanted to see and thought it could do. I do however think that most of the problems here are that people get this Idea that they can go do the same thing just because they have the same car. Most don't have the same experience as these guys. I would be happy with a $55,000 car that can run like that. I can't wait to see ZL1 and a 2013 GT500 sitting side by side on the same track. People may be surprise.
