Same here. Looking at getting a corvette next year, that too will be manual. My xterra daily driver is automatic for sure. I'm 29, and love my manual. Everyone has their own reasons for liking either, if I went dd with my camaro, maybe if get an auto, if I didn't have to deal with AFM rubbish and paying extra for an auto transmission, lol f-that.

Why does everyone get so caught up on AFM , when you put an auto car in shift mode or M mode that is disabled...
And better yet if you get a tune like the performance enthusiast always does it's good forever...

Manual FTW!! That's what real men drive

I rented a mustang the other week on a business trip and didn't like the paddle system. Felt it was slow to respond and all your shifts have to be in sequence.

I'm going to guess that putting an AT into any sort of manual shift mode defeats at least part of the reason for getting an automatic tranny in the first place.

That's OK with some folks, and not at all appealing to others. Especially if you have to do it to make some other aspect of the car's behavior/operation suit you.

Paddles

I drive quite a lot in traffic and I choosed an AT. But now with my new paddles it just super. I can change speed on any position on the steering wheel. Not expensive, 5 minutes to install.

Damn, if your fingers get tired from paddle shifting just think how your leg would feel after pushing in that clutch. Not even to think how your shoulder would hurt from changing gears,, I guess you are now stuck taking a taxi or riding the bus.

Stick, actually one of the reasons I own it is because the Ford dealer had 0 preowned MT 5.0s on the lot the day I went to buy a modern muscle car. I was pretty set on a 5.0, but wanted something right then. The ability to downshift is probably my #1 reason I rather a stick in a toy car.

My Taurus SHO ('10) and Volvo S60R ('04) are AT, they are great for driving. The Camaro is a toy, and MT is much more fun.

some of the things on my man card is 10 years of chasing folks and getting shot at, i dont think that driving an automatic camaro is gonna revoke it

automatic.
Heavy fwy driving here in SoCal, and hate that constant clutch in, clutch out...and no, dont make me any less of a man, or human than anyone else. we are all, so different, except for for our love of Camaros! even then...dont we all do our best to personalize these cars to our own taste...why not in that way also?

I think you missed not only the context in which my reply was made, but also the intended meaning (big hint: it had nothing to do with my own preference whatsoever).

When you know which transmission type "fits" you best, you don't have to "justify" it to anybody. Not even to yourself; it simply disappears into the way your car drives.
