if Chevy made a 4dr Cobalt SS with the turbo engine, I'd consider that as a daily driver... that would be hella fun to beat on daily

Here we go... revealing my inner struggles and split personality.

If power lust triumphs over practicality, then it will be a Camaro, Corvette or G37. If practicality triumphs, then I'll be looking for a reliable MPG champion; perhaps a diesel. I drive about 30 miles each way to/from work each day, so MPG ratings always hang around in my mind.

The G37 is the odd ball here. I include it in my decision matrix because Infiniti has done a great job revamping the interior (klassy with a C) and exterior (curvaceous). The power train and handling are also quite remarkable for a mid-class luxury sedan.

I can tell by your statement you haven’t sat in the back of an 8, there is room for four six footers in there. I wouldn’t have bought the car without the back doors, they are very helpful for rear ingress/egress (tight parking lots are a pain though). Both of my kids will be old enough to get in themselves once I get a new car so a true coupe finally becomes an option again. The only thing lacking on the RX8 IMO is power; the fact that it’s been out for 5 years and still looks fresh says a lot.

My list keeps changing but right now its:

1. Camaro perhaps a Convertible not sure.
2. 08 M3
3. 08 S5
4. 135i
5. Challenger SRT8
6. 08 C63 AMG

Goodness. My first choice would be a V-8 Camaro with AFM, Flex-Fuel, Six Speed Auto.

Now if things continue to go the way they are, I may not be able to afford much of anything.

If that happens, then the choice will be no choice! I am not panicking yet. But the way we are collectively being gouged by the Big Oil/OPEC Cabal, it makes one pretty edgy!

Like everyone here, I have been (im)patiently waiting for the Camaro to come out, and in that time, my income has crept up and my expenses have gone down some, to the point, that I may be able to afford a Z06 by the time Camaro comes out, so I'll be torn between bang for the buck (ie, keep more of my cash) or splurging for the Vette.

I have been waiting for this car just like everyone else. I'm getting the Camaro first and foremost. If they price the thing to the moon, I may look at an Audi S4 Avant (about 3-4 years old). I have heard those are a money pit at 50,000 miles so I may pass. I think I would look at a 4-5 year old Cayman/Boxster, or a VW R32. I have a VW Passat currently, that thing has been bullet proof, and I drive it like a race car.

I would also consider a Pontiac G8 GXP. Whatever, it has to have a manual trans, decent horses and handle failry well.

In no particular order, though it's likely I'll favor the Camaro... it's the sexiest of the bunch.

G8 GXP
Used Vette
Camaro V8 (LS3 hopefully)
Challenger SRT8

I'm either getting the V6 camaro, or I'll keep driving my accent and track down a 1970 buick skylark to make into a restomoded, modern GSX tribute.
