well... if you build it right this time, you won't have to worry about a measly 13psi blowing it

and if you're looking at working your current heads, i've heard a lot of good stuff about Advanced Induction's jobs on stock heads

Too bad, I liked the orange on the block.
Yeah I wish GM still painted their blocks, I would love an orange block.

It's an iorn block with forged parts and there are two versions. The lesser still has all forged parts and the B-15 has six bolt heads and is named the B-15 for it's ability to run up to fifteen pounds of boost and the lesser version eight pounds of boost. Either way both are iorn blocks with forged internals with a warranty. The B-15 can be had for 8k if I remember correctly, the lesser for 6k.

Stock LS3 rods are forged but its a powdered metal forging so I'm looking at like an H beam traditional forging.
Both LSX376 engines have forged powdered metal rods, probably the same rod LS3s have. One engine has cast crank and the other has forged crank. The cast crank engine has the LS3 cam in it and the forged crank engine has the LS7 cam in it.

Yes you are correct, I had to go and look at the specs on these as the base engine has a nodular iron crank not forged. I am giving consideration in buying a B-15 and pulling my stock ls3 for a future build.

It would be great if it had H beams and forged flat top pistons instead of I beams and dished. Neither cam is desireable to me so the rods/compression/cam selection is not there in the LSX376 for me.

I will have an orange block wither way. I'll paint it up the way I want it before I drop it in.

A stock LS3 can handle 8 psi safely. I'd think that the lesser crate LSX would be able to go to 15ish?

I'm certainly not arguing as you obviously know more about them than I do. I don't know a lot about the LSX crates. I'd just think that a forged piston and an iron block would be better than stock.

Makes sense because the shop I talked to said that it had the same rods as the LS3.

I'd have been pissed buying the lower one. BUT, at 9 to 1 compression that 8 pounds will go much further. haha

i thought with lower compression, boost means less & you need more of it to make the same power... you just have more resistance to detonation because you ain't trying to squeeze X amount of air as much

and my bone stock 55kmi LS1 handles more than 10psi just fine. i can't imagine why a 'properly built/forged' iron block engine is only warrantied up to 8

Well it will still easily put down a respectable 650HP to the ground (mildly blown) that's nothing to sneeze at and would make most people happy and the price is right.

off topic, but i just flew by Bangor a couple weeks ago - got some gas from your tanker unit.

and i wasn't doubting the power - just why they rated it so low because it should safely handle plenty more than 8psi with low compression... that's all
