What am I doing wrong? Will the new CE firmware update solve this?
Look at the format of the songs on the flash drive. If they are not decoded (non-Apple format) the car will not recognize them. You may need to change the format when you export them to the flash drive.

FYI: My car was built 9/9 and still has software CC. My system always defaults to the Ipod, which is what made me come to this thread. I'll live with it for a while before taking it in for the update.

It's a PC, not a Mac. I'm a noob at this, so details would be easier for me! I love being a backyard mechanic with all of my cars and toys, but I am not good with computers and software. Thanks in advance for any help you guys can give me!

Car was at dealer for 3 days. They could not get the PDIM to update. They called GM and I guess this is a huge problem. GM is working on getting the problem solved, but as of right now the PDIM cannot be updated.

Maybe not at your dealer. They are probably a small fish dealer that doesnt have the new hardware yet. Dont worry though, because the update isnt going to fix anything but bluetooth problems.

Yeah there has to be either a service bulletin out that says to do the repairs, or else a problem observed by the customer in order for GM to reimburse the dealers for the work they do (what you show in the video should count). The only info that I've seen that people have done is to just take that part number and Cal ID sheet to them. I know there have been so many problems with the dealers trying to get their hands on this update, so I don't really know why some can figure it out while others can't. I guess it's all about training and how familiar they are with our systems for obtaining updates. Since I don't work in that area, I really have no idea how that part of the business functions.

I don't know when, but I would imagine that someday there'll be a service bulletin about how to update the PDIM which should resolve a lot of these issues, but unfortunately there isn't one out yet it seems.
yeah, it happens once in a while. i had my car in the shop for 3 days, they were trying to figure out how to fix it as well as talking with GM to fix it, and now... NOW my damn On* does not work... somehow durring the dealership trying to figure out the problem it got messed up and it won't connect. On* can't trace my car, can't connect to it yada yada yada. guess i'm going to tell them to give me a loaner and keep my car until it's fixed...

Today was trip #3 to my local dealer to try to get the PDIM update. The service manager had their IT guy there to verify connection. They were able to update HVAC and something like cluster gauge configuration with no problems. The PDIM update give 2 error codes which I didn't write down but one had the text of Unknown programming error occurred.

They called some GM support number and the guy on the other end of the phone said it is a known problem. Some new update should be released tomorrow to fix people with programming problems. The GM helpdesk is supposed to call the dealer when the update is released. So hopefully the 4th trip for the PDIM update will be the last one.

Never the less, there are a lot of people who have dealers that cannot update their PDIM and I just wanted to let those that are having problems know that GM is working on a fix so ALL dealers can update the PDIM properly.

I am the same problem with my dealer, they cannot get the codes to update, and I was told that it is not required to be updated, and that they will not replace the radio unit if they are unable to get it programmed. This does not sound like what others are experiencing at thier dealers. If the programming is not able to updated shouln't that be a warranty repair option at the dealer expense?

I am still waiting to hear from them, they are working with GM Techs but no solution to my problem has been found yet. I have been waiting almost a week and no response yet.

The PDIM is a separate module from the radio. If you are seeing the issues that have been reported (which I'm sure you are) and there is an update available to fix it and they can't update it, they damn sure better replace the PDIM module.

My dealer mentioned today that they were considering replacing the radio under warranty. Because GM released the update if the dealer fubar's the install or the update kills the radio it should be warranty issue.

I gave my dealer the part # for the CE update, and they were able to find the update part number, but they don't know how to physically update the PDIM. He said they have never done one before. I wish that GM could communicate better with their dealers. It's embarrasing for the dealer's that we know more than the service dept. does. How does the dealer download the update to a vehicle?

I can't give exact directions, but I've watched my dealer try many times now. They login to a GM website with the MDI hooked up to the car. Apparently there are 3 ways to do the update, a wireless method, usb cable from PC to MDI and a remote way. I've seen them try wireless and usb. Once on the website they click into 2010 Chevrolet Camaro and it will connect to the MDI. Then they have a list of modules, they click the radio one and under the radio there are 3 selections. If I remember right it is the top selection of the 3.

Can't really give more details but they should be able to figure it out eventually

I second that thought. All of the dealers should have access to the same information. However, it appears that some dealers are getting info that is not widely distributed.
