Thanks for the kind words. My wife asked me what's next too... ;o)
Overkill? Yep sure did -- but its been 27 years since I've done this to an auto engine. Now the aircraft engines? I was this anal too working on those just a few years ago as I was with my own planes I worked on. Guess the 'crazy anal' stuck around me for some reason. The FAA was VERY PICKY about the work one did on one's own plane -- and you had to REALLY document it too -- pics and all ;o). You should have seen me breaking in the engine after the rebuild -- have to fly it in the air for a few hours within easy access to the runway if it failed, at night, when no one would be hurt if it failed -- that was fun! ... I still remember saying 'Grand Prairie Traffic, Warrior 41507 Left Downwind 1 7 breaking in our new engine....' -Don Last edited by hammdo; 01-21-2015 at 01:16 AM. |

ZL1 pump speed is controlled by the ECM.

It's unique and that's all that counts. Won't see another one like yours running around.

Well, yesterday and today I did the ZL1 bumper that Gary's Customs did for me -- matches perfectly -- really happy with the workmanship -- came a day later due to a mix-up from the shipping company -- but @ least I got it!
Also, I did an upgrade including the splash shields (fender wells) and brake ducts on both side. If someone wants a detailed install, I'll be happy to do that. For now, I'll display the new bumper with fog lights and the Z/LE badges! I tried to install the ZL1 spoiler, but there is body work to do and I'll have to wait on that for now. Now I had ordered a ZL1 grill, but that did not come in from Gary -- I'll find out what's going on with that -- but -- I do like the current grill with no badge! If he didn't ship it, I may just get my $$ back and keep this grill... So, with that out of the way.... Bumper ready to install after scavenging parts from the SS bumper with the ZL1 splitter installed: ![]() ![]() I installed Ofer's plug n play wire harness for the fog lights... ![]() Bumper on: ![]() ![]() Wheels off to do fender bolting: Brake Ducts: Drivers: ![]() Passengers: ![]() Bolted up on the splash shield: ![]() Have to get a few more bolts for the splash shield -- 8 total -- with retainers too... Lights working!: ![]() I do need those stinkn' badges: ![]() ![]() Next will be taking it to Andy and letting him perform his magic. I did take the car around the neighborhood just to test drive it a bit. Nothing over 35 mph and no hard takeoffs. Just to get a few more heat cycles and some actual variation on load. More to come! -Don Last edited by hammdo; 12-11-2015 at 08:49 PM. |
