So I can tap into the TC button and re-route the wires for the lighter adapter?...run it 24/7 if I want?

What I was suggesting if you want power to your power adapter right next to the traction control, the main battery power cable is inches from this location. I'm not sure what the best method to tap a 0 gauge wire would be, but if I were to do that, I would remove the red power cable from the power adapter, cap the end of the original wire, then run an inline fuse adapter probably 20 amps to the main battery cable. I might cut away part of the insulation on the top of the battery cable, solder on the 12 gauge wire, coat it in liquid tape, followed by wrapping it in electrical tape. You might be able to punch a small hole in the shielding of the battery cable, tin the end of a wire and then shove the wire in, then tape it up. Just some of my ideas, but I don't like cutting my factory wires. |

Whatever you tap into here, you can't totally shut it off with the dimmer switch. It will dim with the rest of the lighting though. |

Roger that. No...I don't want to tap the main battery cable. That could be bad...and I don't really want to have future problems by doing that either.
And...on another note.... These door pads are a pain in the @ss. The drivers side has two flaws. One I can't tell how in the hell to fix. The other came after I put down the paint adhesive. Honestly, I REALLY don't feel like sanding this thing all down again. ESPECIALLY after that paint adhesive. IT IS HELL to take off!!!!! I will install soon. Yes, The drivers side will have one obvious flaw. I will have to find another insert to paint. I can't do any more work on this one. It's a pain...and I've sanded it twice and the shop twice. We can't sand this crap any more. Need to find a replacement and get to work. The passenger side it near perfect. I got some cracking towards the front....and how that happened, I have no idea. It was fine for the longest time. |

Other suggestion. Follow the main battery cable with a 12 gauge piece of wire, and hook up right at the battery for your power adapter. This one might be the most work, but might be the safest for you

I Found It!
So I just ordered the parts and they are on their way, so I've committed to this project. When I had the doors apart to modify them to have the ABL run all the way to the dash, I took notice of the wires they hook up to, the purple and black wires. I followed them out the door and removed the lower kick panel on the passenger side and put some wire taps on the purple and black wires there, hooked up a lamp I had sitting around, and lo and behold, it was the ABL circuit! I am able to dim from the dash control and it shuts all the way off like the doors do! I was worried about not having the plugs from the factory on my late build 2SS and finding a proper connection, but now I'm all set and just waiting for my EL wire and inverter to show up so I can finish this project up!

awesome find! Once I finally finish the doors....if ever, I'm going to hit the glove box. Those wires are going to help out a lot of people....since all new cars get NO ABL connectors in the dash or fuse box...

It was sheer luck that I got these on the first try. There are a few purple and black wires coming out of/going to the door and I was going to use process of elimination to find the right ones, just got lucky I guess. Here's a pic showing the wire taps if it helps determine the general area these are located on the passenger side, there are soooo many wires...
