I believe the gift tax is somewhere in the neighborhood of 30% to 40%.That would come out to $12,000 to $16,000 on a $40,000 Camaro.

your allowed to recieve up to a million dollars before you have to pay any gift tax...you do have to report anything over 12000 but you won't pay any taxes on it
