Today I will be say bye bye to the L99 & dropping in a full GPI built 415 stroker along with a Circle D 3800 converter. I want to send a special thank you to Andrew Cammer for dealing with the mess I made. The original plan was a afm delete/cam swap & after I received all the parts I decided to do a full 415 build & sent all the parts back lol.

I usually do my own work but recently found a young GM Tech that is surgical clean and does it by the book. He works for an old dear friend who just happens to be the Service Manager at the local Caddy store. My CTS wagon had an injector basically lock wide open; not leak, spray. The cylinder that got washed down dripped compression so he pulled the right cam cover and checked valves and springs……..he had a fair bit of stuff apart. You couldn’t tell anyone had been under the hood. I pulled the engine cover and looked deep.
I said that I was going to put a clutch in my SS between 145k and 150k whether it needed it or not. I told my wife that if the Caddy shop will quote me less than $1500 labor to swap the clutch in the Camaro then they were going to do it - I’m not as young as I used to be. So my friend quotes me $800 bucks, I say when can I drop it off! Originally planning on doing the job myself at a friends shop in Bham I had already bought a clutch kit - LUK kit with pressure plate, friction disc, slave cyl and throw out bearing, pilot bearing, even a plastic pilot shaft to mount the pressure plate. I’ll admit feeling a little cheap buying “aftermarket” instead of the same in a GM box but I was just going back stock, nothing fancy. The factory installed clutch was a LUK! EDIT: OH YEAH, the young Tech praised me for including a Hinson remote clutch bleeder in the box with the clutch stuff. |

Nice job sir! Looks good to me. Except the decal being upside down. But only a Camaro fan would see that. lol. Not a big deal.

Here are a couple pics. Winter came back around here this week, didn’t get a chance for a pic.

Don’t be like me and trade it in a month after you pay it off of course I traded it for another stupid low mile ABM SS that was very similar to what I had to begin with…well that and $12K more to pay off… making decisions like a grown adult is hard for me sometimes no regrets in it all though so I suppose I made the right decision.
Congrats on the title mod, huge achievement for sure.
