Here is a video of the auction for VIN #001. Not sure if this has been posted yet. But thought it was interesting. Sold for $350,000. If I heard correctly the money is donated to the American Heart Association. Here is the video, it is a long one:

ehh its not even the first camaro. They will build one and put a "001" vin on it.

Give me a file and a screwdriver and I can do the same thing. Someone is getting ripped off big time.

Please elaborate, what do you mean it is not the 1st Camaro. If it is VIN 001 from GM, then it is the 1st 5th gen Camaro, correct?

It is the first Camaro built and Rick Hendrick, who is a NASCAR team owner and very philanthropic individual bought this Camaro for $350,000 and YES, the money went to the American Heart Association...
He has already donated race winnings to various charities...he is a fine, upstanding human being and a true gentleman...
Anyone who follows NASCAR knows Rick Hendrik and his "awesomeness" as a human being and as a team owner as well...............IMHO

interesting thing is I think Rick Hendrick owns serial 001, its a black with orange stripes. As well as 002 which is SIM

Edit: I get it, he paid 350k so he could have Vin #001 (ordered the way he wanted) and it was the Black SS we've seen him backing out of the trailer a couple of months ago. The BJ auction car was a prototype

my dad actually use to be a friend of rick hendricks surprisingly. yall may not believe me but he has a picture in his room with my dad and rick hendrick. he would get passes to all the races and everything. maybe i will post that picture up here tonight if i can get it to scan.

Here is that picture I was talking about:

My dad is the bald one on the far left, haha, the guy next to him is one of his friends who is a big boat racer. The third one from the left is Rick Hendrick, the fourth is one of my dads really good friends, Kenny, that I have met on multiple occasions. The last one on the far right is Mark Moler, he played on the 1974 NC State basketball team and was like their sixth man. He played on the team with David Thompson. My dad said his friend Kenny was the one who knew Rick Hendrick and is how my dad met him. This was at the opening of Performance Chevrolet in Chapel Hill, NC I think his said. Kenny and my dad were invited down there by Mr. Hendrick. My dad also said that Darrell Waltrip was there for the opening.

I think It just means he paid 350 for a car worth 35 to probably have the most problems.

The Indy Camaro parked in our dealership was built earlier than Rick Hendrick's, and I'm told the Indy Camaro's were the first 100 built. But Ricks was the first PRODUCTION run Camaro off the line....
