My older brother almost got a brown '78 Z/28 4-speed when he was 16. I remember riding in it and thinking how cool and how much power it had. My parents turned him down because they thought the insurance would be too much. He ended up with a '72 Chevelle convertible and two years later I got my '69 Camaro convertible. Some times it's good to be the younger kid.

Oh ya! I was the oldest... But my dad wante to have it as much as I wanted it! It needed a lot of work... My grandfather helped make it like new again! We completely restored it... I was so lucky to have great parents and grandparents! I'm thankful for that everyday!

when i was 18-19 started looking for my own car, during my spare in school would check out dealers. decided on either trans am / z28/ corvette. i had to try them all before i would decide which one to buy .lots of dealers would not give a kid the time of day,let alone let them test drive a new car. finally found a dealer that let me try all three out, the vette was the salesmans personal car .

so on sept 27 1979 i ordered a all black corvette ( last of L82 engine) for spring delivery . i took the day off of work when it arrived and just drove it!!!!

6 yrs later sold car was still like new, 2 yrs ago was going to try and find it but found out it was in a scrap yard last owner had a fender bender . could not get the courage to see what condition it was in .

68 Chevy II . Ended up painting it red and switching the interior to black out of a '70 Nova.

Then hit a 62 Galaxie head-on and that was that.

1962 Chevy II Nova Series 100
194 C.I. straight six with a 3-on-the-tree transmission. NO radio. 72,000 miles with all service documentation.
I don't have any pics handy, but it looked like this except in dark green:

It was a Texas Power and Light Company car that was auctioned by sealed bid in1969. My dad knew the guy at TP&L that was in charge of the sealed bids. The top bid was $410. I had sold my Yamaha 125 Enduro for $320, so my dad loaned me the extra $100 for my winning bid of $420. I saved my money and got an Earl Scheib $19.95 paint job and bought a Craig 8 track player and some Radio Shack speakers.

I drove it for a little over a year until I got my birthday, Christmas, wedding, graduation, and any other present for the rest of my life.
I came home from school and this was in the driveway:
