I don't know where the inaccuracy comes in with onboard MPG displays, but in the past many have proven to be inaccurate, even those that have access to injector pulse width and fuel pressure data. It's good to hear that the Camaro's is accurate.
I never used to just go by one tankfull when figuring it out manually. I usually did it over an entire month..or trip.. Most people cannot get the same pump every time, so you go get inaccuracys that way... I don't think I have been able to fill up at the same pump 2 times in a row in a very long time.
My last 5 new cars have had the MPG readout on them and I have never calculated it to be more than one MPG off..so I have quit calculationg and I go with the onboard readout.

1 mpg out of 20-25 is a fairly significant difference, 4-5%

I have found that my mpgs have gone down as the temps have gotten cooler (16 to 18mpg). Of course that could be because the car runs sooo much stronger in the cold that I get on it more!

Dont worry, i was getting 17L/100km when i first got mine and i was in disbelief with the gas milage. Just drive her hard and get her broken in.
How many Km do you have?
My gas milage was soo bad, that i was keeping the rpms under 3k and it got even worse, so i startyed driving her hard, and no word of a lie, it started to get better and better gas milage, especially with the miles increasing.
Now, purely city i get about 14.5L/100km

i am lucky to see 18MPG. i would have bought the V8 if i knew the mileage was going to be soo bad. at least then i would expect poor mileage and have more fun driving the power.

I am guessing if I had the V8 and drove it the way I do my V6, I would be lucky to get 12 mpg (or less).

20-26mpg in town

Today I made a couple 12 mile trips around town and drove very conservatively - no hard accel or decel, as little braking as possible. Full tank of gas.

On snowy roads - very stop and go with an average speed of about 20mph - I got 20mpg. In lighter traffic with an average speed of about 30mph, I got 26mpg. This was measured using a Scangauge. Once I learn the car a bit more, I'm pretty sure I can squeeze a few more mpg out of it.

Funny to see the reaction on people's faces when they jump behind a Camaro at the light expecting a quick escape and I get outrun by an old lady in a Tercel...

That's about what I get with the V6 as well. I do mostly around-town driving. A lot of stop and go, barely going over 40 mph.

I currently have 777 miles on the car.

It's all relative. I'm already getting 22mpg with a mix of about 70% City, 30% Hwy and on my last tank I filled her up at 325 miles in the tank, and was just a hair under a quarter tank. The DIC said I still had 80 miles to go....so roughly I'm getting 350 miles to 400 miles to a tank and the V8 guys in another thread are averaging about 250 miles to a tank.

So we're good.
