I didn't include 180 degree headers in the original post because it is not something that you can buy off the shelf for these cars. Or any street car for that matter. They are custom built and pretty rare. The idea is that by keeping two exhaust pulses out if the collector at the same time you can use a smaller collector and create a wider power band. However, the longer primary tubes and extra bends reduce peak horsepower and add weight. The big thing that gets people excited about them is that they give an American V8 an "exotic" sound.

Looking at picking up some TSP LTs with off-road connections. Gonna install with my mom's boyfriend because I don't quite trust myself yet.

Trying to figure out what all I need to grab for it in the meantime.

I know for sure the off-road connections on top of the LTs, do I need the O2 extensions too?

Also, if I want to add in an x-pipe and get rid of the A6 resonator, how much piping do I need to pick up to bolt up? I was looking at the magnaflow tru-x, but I'm thinking I may just need to have that welded up by a shop due to needing more pipe.

Thanks for all the info. I'm about to purchase a set of Kooks 1 7/8's LT'S and their 3 inch pipes. But I'm still a little confused about the cats. Can you help me understand the difference in their HFC cats and their GREEN cats? Or should I skip them and just go off road?

Having an extra set of hands when installing headers is a good idea regardless of how experienced you are. It makes life a whole lot easier. I am not sure about TSP, but most header manufacturers include everything you need to install them. O2 extension, hardware, etc.. I would give them a call to verify. If you want to eliminate the A6 resonator Summit Racing makes a direct fit section to replace it. It is not resonated and you still have cut and weld but there is no fabrication involved. Either way, you will end up at the exhaust shop if you don't have the tools.

I generally disregard the existence of the GREEN cats. The supposed selling point is that if you use them you don't have to tune your car but in reality that has proven to not be the case. A pretty high percentage of the time you still end up having to so I can't justify recommending them.

The big question concerning HFC or off road pipes is whether or not you are subject to inspections and/or emissions testing. I know they have inspections in Texas and you are going to need cats to pass. The good news is that HFCs flow 99% as well as straight pipe so you won't lose and performance and they will also keep the smell to a minimum especially during the summer.

Thanks for the info! TSP has an option to add the O2 extension when you order, as well as clamps and gaskets included.

In regards to the resonator, the Summit pipe looks like it comes with clamps. The cutting is no problem, but the welding is my concern, as I'm not sure we have the stuff to do it. Would the clamps do fine or would that cause some problems?

I was thinking just clamp up to the offroad connections then to the axle-back, but I'm not positive on it.

You are going to need those things. I would verify that the gaskets are GM gaskets. If not, pick up a set. Clamps should be fine. You can install it that way and get it welded later if you want/need to.

Thanks so much! I'll start gathering what I need then, and probably give TSP a call to make sure it's all good to go. Hope to have these on by mid February!

Just placed an order for TSP 1 7/8" LTs. Time to make some NOISEEEEE with my Atak axle-back and throwing an xpipe resonator delete on while I'm under it for the LTs.
