Summit Point Circuit, Friday April 22nd
Friday At The Track, group 1b

This was the 3rd track day for my wife and I (she drives a Fiat 500 Abarth). The first 2 sessions it rained, which was ok because our first track day it rained all day, so we knew what to expect. Luckily it was dry after lunch.

Car is stock except for safety stuff: DOT4 brake fluid, Hawk HP+ pads and Quantum brake ducts.

Not my fastest time at Gingerman, but a good example of good and bad track day etiquette.

wow, this is obviously not the novice group. this guy should have known better. it doesnt matter what you drive or how fast you are, it matters that you drive well in traffic. thats what makes a good driver. you were very patient with him. i can stand almost any situation but blocking i cant. THOU SHALT NOT BLOCK, was the 11th commandment but moses had pressure from the Sinai mini cooper club to lose it.

I have a lot of respect for the groups I run with, and I'm not one to just take matters into my own hands. I try to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. I was a little confused because he would move over as if he was going to point me by, but never pointed and never lifted. I was able to out brake him by quite a bit, and I was a little faster in the straights so I figured I would just go around him on the long straight away. I was going to speak with him after the session, but he quickly packed his stuff and left event though there was one session left.

The Ridge Motorsport Park

Here is a video from my last session at The Ridge Motorsports Park in Shelton, WA. I have done over 100 laps around this track on a bike but this was my first time in a car.

Best time was 2:10.6 for the day but my poor brakes were pretty cooked by the last session.

It's one of my favorite local tracks, too. I also love Oregon Raceway Park : )

Gingerman Raceway 27Jun2016, shot from a windshield-mounted Garmin VIRB XE:

Unfortunately, the camera battery died partway through some sessions :( I'll also say that my driving wasn't exactly great this particular day, and there were some fellow drivers who had problems with the concept of the point-by.

I absolutely LOVE The Ridge both on a bike and in a car! With all the new facilities being built there, the track is only going to get better!

I was hoping to hit an SCCA Track Night in America event at Oregon this year but it looks like that just won't happen. I've never been to ORP and I dying for another track sticker on my back window!

Good job on the track with the Sonic. After watching the video it could be a beast in its class of smaller compacts. I imagine stiffer struts, custom sway bars, and some race slicks you could have a lot fun with it. Also non ceramic brakes could give better braking.
