Looking great Don. I think I was the first one in DFW to add rear ZL1 spoiler to my SS. As I recall I had to fill three holes in SS deck lid; the guide hole plus two attach bolt holes. Had to drill one hole to feed taillight wire through plus two others to attach ZL1 spoiler. Fed the wire through driver half of deck lid and deactivated the existing SS HMTL behind rear window. What further complicated my install was I have painted on stripes that had to be added to repainted deck lid and spoiler to look good. I liked painting spoiler black to match stripes.

Ah, thanks I'll look into that. Right now it's @ ADM PERFORMANCE for a tune, zl1 fuel pump, FPCM, and 3.45 gears!

Can't wait!

Did you do the body/re-paint on the whole deck lid? I don't have those tools anymore so I may have to take it to a shop to have it done...

Yes, removed the deck lid. Basically painted silver then added stripes when we painted the spoiler. OR, perhaps you could look into buying a new ZL1 deck lid and just paint???

Yep, looking @ that option now. I figured it would be almost the same cost vs new. I've asked Gary's Custom's for a price...

Thanks for the idea!

I did notice the paint is chipped under the ss spoiler -- I know there is a tech bulletin for that -- may be an option there...

When I installed spoiler I used some sealant around the holes where spoiler attach bolts go through. I did not want water being able to get into the trunk area. FYI

yep, I would use that for sure! There are also silicone washers that would work too...

Thanks!

I'll keep all of that in mind once I get the car back from Andy -- can't wait ;o)

OK, had ADM do a ZL1 fuel pump, and FPCM with Dyno. I'm running all stock pulleys, 6 PSI boost, and these are the results (only one pull as the intercooler pump needs to be re-positioned):

ADM did an excellent job considering I did the work and its not a 'normal' ADM build -- and they don't normally work on someone's DIY job. It is very much appreciated and ADM does Superb work.

The results are right where I expected them to be being totally stock pulleys and a 'safe' tune. Since I didn't upgrade to the 2.55 pulley, there is still room for 60+ hp. I didn't want to do that just yet, but it will likely be a future upgrade ;o). ADM has the 6 rib pulley upgrades for the snout and tensioner so that will be a future mod (Lid and SC need to come off again ;o)

I found out the Bosch pump cannot be mounted upside down so I'll have to re-do that -- but that was the only install item to re-do. The pump does not appear to operate properly in that mode -- Andy informed me Bosch does not support that. Live and learn so I'll do that before taking any long drives ;o)

The idle is 'searching' a bit and I've sent a file to Ryan @ GPI to review that ADM generated for me (Thanks Andy!).

3:91's come out and 3:45's in -- and that is scheduled for next week.

More to come!

Well, turned the intercooler pump right-side up and still, no flow from the Bosch pump. I finally 'milked' the lines near the heat exchanger and finally, the pump primed. So, you'll need to milk the lines before and after the heat exchanger to get all the air out. Once you do that, the pump works...

Just took it out for its first 'highway' drive -- did great. Lots of power, 3.91s really kick it in the rear -- a bit too tall but still pretty nice -- few quick pulls -- very nice.

Checked things out after the drive -- put about 50 miles on it -- no leaks!

Next, more Z/LE goodies due in tomorrow and another round of driving before the 3.45's go in....

For those of you with a strut bar (1LE), I had to grind mine near the hood shock about 1/4 inch in and use about 1/4 spacers in order to re-install it.

Spacers:

Making room on the hood shock side:

Clearance:

Driver's side:

Passenger's side:

Gap is about 3/8 to 1/2 inch -- don't break a motor mount ;o)

I may have aluminum pads put on this to take up some of the gaps -- just to be safe -- that will be a future project...

Mmm, dat torque curve. I'm not a badge guy myself, but I have to admit, it's cool what you've done.
