Don't hold your breath. If they decide that the economy is back on track get ready for them to head to around $5.00 per gallon. They were headed there before the economy went south ,but they knew if they kept it high they would have really crashed the whole thing. This is one of the reasons the economy will yoyo for many's years to come. They want gas prices to be much higher than they are now ,but the world's economy's can't handle it.

I find it interesting that people driving a new car are alarmed and concerned by the gas prices that have been floating around the same median for the past few years.

Sorry to tell you but it is not going back to 2.50. They are expecting 3.75 for regular before March and it will rise from there thru the summer. OPEC does not want to up production and the tree huggers will not let us drill on our own resources or build refineries.

China and Indias demand are expected to grow 40% each with the world economies rebounding.

well heres why i am worried, its not like it effects me directly that gas prices are high . its more it will effect the recovering economy, when thats happens then is effects me.

whatever. You don't like it? Take the bus, walk, ride a bike, buy a horse...

Lets look at this... Say 20 mpg. $3.50 a gallon. Car weighs what, almost 4000 pounds. It's roughly 2200 miles from LA to NYC. 2200/20= 110 gallons * $3.50 = $385. Try to ship something that weights 4000 pound from coast to coast. It doest cost that much to move this much mass from point a to point b.

In retrospect, fuel costs in this country are SUPER low!
