And as a former insurance man for many years the numbers presented are completely irrelevant... in fact the type of car is quite low on the list of things that affect your insurance rate. These threads are a waste of time and space and should never ever be sticky-ed.

I agree....

There are so many factors you can't go by what someone else is paying. It all depends on things like your age, your credit score, where you live, your past driving record, the deductible, the coverage limits, etc.

Best thing to do is just shop around for your own insurance to find the cheapest for you.

Another thing to remember is that just because you find the cheapest insurance doesn't mean it's the best company to go with. Afterall...you won't find out how good the insurance is until it's time to make a claim.

Rate: $570/6 months ...100/300/ $500 deductible
No Accidents, tickets, claims, excellent credit

I didn't want to revive an old thread but this is a point that hasen't been discussed much, it is the major price variations in the insurance carriers. I am basing this on using the major (top ten carriers).

When pricing the major companies I had monthly pricing averages between $88-$288 a month for the same coverage. Also you need check several companies. State Farm and Allstate was twice as high as Progressive for the same coverage. I priced 10 companies, only three of them were near the bottom, the rest were all twice the price or more.

Rate: My dad is the "owner" of the car so its listed at $800/6 months, for me it would have been $2000/6 months. Thats the price until August when I turn 25 then its going to be $400-500/6 months or $1600/6 months.

More than the car you're driving is used to get the price of your policy.

+ (not sure what # we are on)

Edit: I've been told from insurance agents that.... Location is probably one of the main factors in determining rate. I moved from BFE to the heart of LA and my insurance tripled on my truck (at the time, with no tickets or accidents).

seeing this thread makes me wonder why the heck would anybody under 25 even try to buy this car. I'd never be willing to pay over $100/mo on insurance, especially knowing that I follow the rules of the road...

Location is HUGE and can change things from town to town even if they are directly adjacent to eachother.

Also hugh is what part of town you live in also how many mile a year you drive, if your married , have kids, so many things go into figuring it out. My insurance was low until I added my wife as a driver. I'm now paying about $1500 every 6 months for 2 cars full covered with a new driver.
