if memory serves me the 5 speed didn't make it behind the 350 because it can't handle the torque. i sure some one will chime in about how their 5 speed could handle a twin turbo with 1000hp. IMO the 350 is the only way to go. my 4th gen t56 was no slouch. chit to me the t56 is better than the 6060. it's personal preference a manual is more visceral but i have come to kinda like a auto. t-tops are okay but the novelty wears off i had them once and will never have them again....
i have had several cars with 305's they suck. the 5.3 swap was the best thing that ever happened to a 305 car. https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/tran...power-can.html |

I went ahead and bought the one with the T-Tops. I bought it to enjoy, but I just also wanted to make the best investment I could make and wasn't sure how much (if any) difference T-Tops would make. Now that I've made the decision, I'm happy with the one I bought.

Well good for you. I had an 86 305 auto with t tops that I put a big cammed Oldsmobile 350 in it. I then bought a 92 coupe and put the engine in that. Man it was a fun ride.

1989 was also the last year any third-gen with the B2L RPO 350 TPI L98 engine could be ordered in combination with the CC1 RPO removable T-Top roof panels. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chevro...60e397a4cacc76

Glad you got one you are happy with. Im getting incrementally closer to having mine running after sitting for 20 years. I’ve got a 4th Gen fuel tank assy and injectors on the way. Should run after all that is done.
Can’t wait to see pics of what you got.

I'm trying to figure out how to add pictures. It's currently the "Dark Red" color with original paint. The paint has some fading and scratches, so I'm going to have it repainted very soon. I'm trying to decide whether to respray it the same color or change it to the Bright Blue factory color. Part of me wants to keep it original, but that blue is my FAVORITE color, so I'm tempted to change it. What does everyone think?
