The stock 355 l99 pump can cavitate at high rpm aerating the oil. They used to run a similar pump in the LS4 5.3 that I ran for a while in another engine. Low cost pump that builds tons of pressure, but you can't spin over 7k with it.

I think if I was that deep in the engine, I would have replaced that pump by now. $3-400 for a pump replacement is a lot cheaper than an engine.
