There's nothing wrong with the V6, it's 300+ hp which is more hp than most of the muscle cars had back in the day. If you really want a Vette, sell the Camaro privately and then go find a reputable dealership.

I'm guessing not recently. The current incentives put new ones at 21K.

There is a little bit of truth to what the dealer did, though.

Cars are worth less when they have been modified. It's a simple fact.

If you look at the collector/antique/special interest markets, a stock, unmodified, unmolested car will ALWAYS be worth more than a modified one.

sounds like you need to keep the Camaro and build some equity in the loan. If the Vette is still around in a month or two they might change their mind.

Try a CAI and Vitesse Throttle Control and you might find your seat of the pants experience to be more rewarding.

I like my car. Just wished I would have gotten a V8 Nobody's fault but my own. If I would have shown patience and used my mod money as a down payment on a new or used SS this tread wouldn't exist. Lesson Learned

Dealer's buy and sell based on booked values (usually NADA). Mods do not add to the value, in their eyes, because the pricing is set by the standard (book).

You could call a major tuner and fix that problem with an engine swap. It would be ambitious, and no one would see it coming.

17-18k for trade sounds about right. i traded in my 1LS 2013 a month ago and i was able to get "full clean trade" at 16.5k. i had 19k miles on it. if you still owe 20k on it and had it for a year you must have paid close to msrp on your camaro. when i purchased mine in '13 i paid 20k (sticker was like 24).

You can always sell it yourself. You will get more.
Gets a little tricky though. If you don't get the loan amount, you'll have to kick in money to make up the difference. And you'll have to do it the day the new owner buys the car.
Because they'll probably want a clean title. That means going to the bank to complete the transaction.

Honestly...this is what I came to realize.

I had a 2LT/RS LFX V6 and it was a great car but after going to the track and getting bitten by the track bug I spent over 6-7k trying to make the car something it wasn't.

I was able to de-mod my car back to stock and find a private seller and I only lost about 1.5k in the entire exchange. I was then able to find a almost new/used ZL1 with only 4800 miles on it at a great price. The car payment and ins cost are minimal (unless you are going to DD the V8) that just buying the V8 from the start would have been a better play.

I think most of use get scared of buying the V8 at the dealer but then realize after a while that the price difference between the V6 and V8 is not as bad as we'd thought....

Your going to take a loss no matter what on the V6 to V8 trade in...it's just a matter of how much is it worth to you?

take the V6 and make it your own(set it apart from the rest). Add more power if that's your desire.

Nothing wrong with a V6, if you really need more power, you could always get a supercharger or turbo's.
