$1400(if that due to discounts) vs $2500?

you're looking in the wrong places if you're paying 2500 for used diff/axles and you can offset the cost by selling your stock diff/axles.
I know a lot of guys think they can save money here but it's not a place to skimp... long term youll be buying stuff again after it breaks. I've had a stock diff, a stock diff with 4.11s, a zl1 diff, and now a solid axle. I have experience with them and can tell you that a stock diff next to a zl1 is no comparison.

Limited gear options keep me away from the ZL1 diff. If I ever upgrade beyond building up the SS rear it'll probably be to an S60. Unless I add a lot more power I should be ok with the well built SS rear.

if you get that deep into it go solid axle. the 380lbs I shaved off the car was worth it

which is why I plan on going with a 9" solid axle on the roller I am about to go pick up from thepartsfarm. twin S475s are not going to do well with IRS axles.

my stock zl1 axles would occasionally click after a footbrake launch with just 730whp. it was only a matter of time before one of those went. if you need ideas for your build, take a look at my build thread. not much room for chargers in our engine bays but I got a gt55 in there with a 5 inch downpipe.

it's insane to think about lol. just the zl1 Center section is 144lbs. that's more than the whole setup weighs

i believe every bit of it. picked up a rear cradle where the only pieces left on it were the upper arms, sway bar, and diff and thought i might cry. We wanted to put it on a cart that was about 3 ft high to work on it and quickly realized that was not a 2 man job

My other option is to swap to a true trac unit inside, billet main caps, lpw cover, the axles and driveshaft will be taken care of to support the higher power when its all said and done |
