Ok, thanks. I just wanted to be sure before I went out and bought them. Dealerships are really starting to piss me off
This would have been more appropriate

the 1LT and base modal come with wheels of almost the same diameter and are the same 18" unless you go with the RS package and then you get 20" wheels, maybe he thought you had an SS and wasn't paying attention. don't see how the transmission would be effected. that seems pretty stupid on the dealers part!

I do this every winter! Your dealer is a total moron. Got my heritage steelies from cheap from craigslist.

Do you not have a jack and a wrench? That's something you can do yourself. Easiest thing to learn if you haven't done it before.

I have a 2LT/RS and run the 18" Heritage wheels with the stock SPEC-TAs in the winter.

Had them on from 12/1/2010 to ~4/15/2011 without ANY problems. They go back on in a week.

There will be plenty of posts saying I'm full of crap and that this can't be done. So, here's the proof it can be.

FWIW:
-I use a $50 floor jack with a 2x6x6 wood block on the pad to raise the car. I keep Jack stands under support members just in case the floor jack fails.
-I did use a 1/2in drive breaker bar with a 22mm deep socket to get the lugs off; this year I have a cordless 1/2 in drive Impact Wrench and 22mm impact deep socket.
-For putting the lugs on, I set a torque wrench with a 22mm deep socket to 120 ft lbs. This setting is a compromise that I haven't had any issues with. The lugs are put on at 100 ft lbs when the cars are built, but dealers were advised to torque to 140 ft lbs due to vibration complaints.

Why would people doubt you? ^ That's not something outrageous.

Yeah, I've got custom GWG staggered 20" wheels and put on the 18" LT rims for November/March.

As I understand it, the RS cars run SS hubs in the rear to support the 20" wheels. Due to this, people insisted smaller wheels would rub.

Do I have to remove the 'hubs?'

I had Goodyear put on the 18" LS wheels I bought for the winter. At first the car seemed to handle so much nicer with not as rough of a ride. When I got on the highway this morning the car felt funny and the engine seemed louder and straining. Could the LS wheels be rubbing or something? I don't want to mess up the car and have my dealer tell me I voided the warranty.
