that whole break in thing is pretty overrated. don't even think about that .
another thing is the car is heavy, 426HP sounds great and all until you look at how much it weighs. |

Going off my experience with breaking in about 30 different new cars over the last 42 years I assure you it's not overrated...

Totally agree, I noticed it did seem to break in at about 8000 miles, but boy did it make a difference with headers and a tune!! Before I could barely spin the tires in 1st, now it will even chirp the tires in 3rd!! It is a completely different car, really woke it up.

Maybe you are just getting more used to it? How did it feel when you first bought it?

second i have heard of people saying engine performance is best when its got some mlles on it. Still though, i do not believe a car is going to change to the point where someone is not happy with the car to being happy with the car. its simply not that much of a drastic change. |

Just say with my 2012 when I first got it I couldn't get it to spin the tires in any fashion, now I can at will with almost 10,000 miles on it. My 2010 was the same way too.

Yes, I agree with the OP that it seemed painfully slow when it was stock. I sold a cammed & bolted WS6 when I got the SS and expected a bit more than it had. Of course the SS is 800+ lbs heavier than the TA.
I was ready to put a 3.91 gear in it to help but did the whole SC/headers/exhaust instead. At ~550 whp it runs like it was meant to. 4.3 sec logged 60-100 mph in a third gear pull via HPTuners logging.

Maybe it only feels slower because its a bigger car? Smaller cars always feel faster. Remember go-karts? Those things feel like 100 miles per hour...

I guess you could be seeing multiple effects, from a engine that has not reached its peak to maybe still having a sensor issue. Or the lackluster stock gearing.
I would run it hard for a couple hundred miles. That may liven it up some. Do you have any kind of engine diagnostic reader you can tie into the diagnostic port and map all the sensor outputs while you drive? It may be helpful to the technician in analyzing what may be going on.

Gen5's are just so much smoother and better all around than previous Camaros. Maybe that's why it feels slow to you. I've owned a couple of 67's and an 88 IROC. I'll take the power, ride and looks of my 2010 anytime.

Just give it more time/miles. Then when you feel like really waking it up.... add a cai, long tubes and a good tune. It doesn't take much with these cars. My buddy and I (not intentional) have identical Camaros. Have same mods. Tuned by the same tuner. And are within a few hp/tq of one another. His has 3400 miles.............mine has 13,400. His still has a hard time spinning the tires............mine, breaks em lose in 3 gears.
