I agree. If your or your tuner's tune blows your engine then it's on you not GM. I kept a spare PCM for my old SS, in case I bricked one while tuning.

But honestly other than a spun rod bearing at 12k miles (the performance shop's fault although I had to pay), the car was intercooled, supercharged, cammed, headers, gearing change, and had 96K miles when I traded it in. The only warranty issue was an instrument cluster that they replace.

If it wasn't for the random rough idle and the the notchy shifting going into 1st and 2nd since it was new, I'd have tuned a few thousand miles ago. I'm afraid as so as I tune something big will go wrong. It's easy to find tuners, not so easy to find troubleshootsers for normal operation.

Yeah I agree you run a risk of having a higher flash count void your warranty, but at least you aren't going in there with a full on easily detectable tune. We've never had a customer not get something replaced under warranty. That being said, we tune a little on the conservative side, so people don't usually blow motors on our tune.
