This guy has some good points but people who buy Camaros or Mustangs buy them because they want them, not because they need them.

I'm going to go against the grain here and say he DOES have a valid point. From a purely marketing standpoint, Ford has done it right by offering a less expensive, rear-drive pony car for the masses. Remember the last time this happened when the Gen 4 Camaros went up against the SN95 mustangs from the late 90's to early 2000's. The Camaro was the superior car in every performance category, but it got crushed in sales.

As much as I love everything about the new Camaro, I AM worried about it - just as the article points out. Price is a huge issue, but not the only issue. GM (and Chryler) are coming 3 years late to the retro-muscle car table and the timing couldn't be worse. Economy sucks, gas is more expensive and the competition has a three year head start.

Just because we all love the Camaro shouldn't blind us to the very real possibility that this new car is facing some pretty tough challenges. Remember, we are a core group of enthusiasts, not the secretary looking for a "sporty 2-door" (which will comprise the bulk of Camaro sales - NOT 2SS/RS cars for us gearheads!)

That being said, I'm not giving up on the Camaro just yet. From what we have seen, it is going to be a brilliant car, and a HECK of a lot better looking that the bland Mustang. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that it WILL be a runaway hit, so that maybe in a year or two we might start seeing special models like the Z28.

What I didn't like was that he says that the Camaro has useless back seats even though It has been proven tha 6 foot man can sit there comfortablly. He says that it has a tiny trunk. even though Tag was able to fit in there, and he's, what? 6 foot something?
It's just a pathetic attempt to try to trash the Camaro.

He has three on the Camaro alone, and they are all the same basically.

There's plenty of room in the trunk for hauling around your stuff. Anyone seen a 4th Gens trunk? and how it was shaped? Thank GOD for this new trunk! I love it!

And I'm 6'3". It was kinda tight for me, but I got in there.

^^ Those are great pics of you in the trunk Tag -was Shunt in there?

OP-

I saw this article too, but didn't post it because it was so negative. Left the site thinking this guy is all negative.

Strangely, later I was going through my Corvette IE favorites, and there was Eric Peters bookmarked. I clicked on it and it was a glowing review of the 2008 Corvette that I read a while back. I mean he LOVES it.

I found it interesting that he believes the Corvette is first class (which it is), but he thinks the Camaro is DOA? Strange.

He also reviewed the current Mustang recently, he likes that.

I filled up for 2.19 today... And he had to use the traverse fuel economy numbers - going to be way off there.

I think the real key to this car's success is that this car will not sacrifice style in the name of performance. I believe this was what hurt the 4th gen, it was too long and low and I never really liked the body style. I believe people will gladly pay more for a car that they prefer the style of, look at how much people pay for BMW's, infiniti's, etc. They are certainly not buying based on hp numbers, they like the style. I think this camaro will reach many of those buyers, just look around the forum at all the current owners of these cars interested in the camaro. Would many of them really consider the much less refined mustang? I don't think so.
