Well I was going to say that we don't have to worry about that at least for the 6th Gen, I know it's coming out and I have that on good authority.

But that good authority already posted here, so.

I think they will be. Engineers may take a minute to catch up with government regulations, but they do catch up, so yeah, we'll just have even more efficient 400+hp V8's, of hybrids that actually work and are cost effective or something.

Sounds more like an epiphany for leaving the bar than for leaving the gym.

I thought I'd open the thread and find the OP posted in 2001.

Edit: Drove a Cruze last week as a rental and was greatly impressed. Would love to take an Impala out for a weekend.

There is a limit to how efficiently you can capture the energy from internal combustion and turn it into mpg. I doubt any company will be putting v8s in mass market cars (like the camaro ss) when the government requires that the average fuel economy of cars sold is more than 50 mpg. The v8 is great and getting better but some things are not possible.

Op - I agree, when cars are running around on hydrogen or batteries (as great as they could potentially be) that isn't a true camaro anymore and I'd rather them not call it one. They will because the name has value and will draw people in, hopefully the styling stays aggressive at least

I can honestly say that I don't believe there is a limit to human creativity. Maybe performance cars won't require 400 hp to get the same performance numbers, maybe lighter weight designs and materials come into play.

I don't know the answer, but like I said I don't think we as a species are limited in the ability to come up with new ideas.

It would be very atypical for a car company to stop making a model that they are selling the s&%t out of.

I wasn't a Camaro fanboy before I owned mine, and I'm not a fanboy now. I love my car, but not because it says, "Camaro" on the fenders, and not because it carries a bowtie emblem. I love it because it's got all of the things that make the car unique to me.

I plan to bring a Shelby into the stable next. Not as a replacement, but as an addition. Someday there could be a Dodge in the mix. Maybe a Mazda. Who knows? I lost my brand loyalty when I left the dealership career. Game on.

That said, if Camaro goes away, there will be something equally entertaining to fulfill my car addiction.

Discontinue the car that leads the segment in sales for over 4 years? I don't think even GM is that dumb.

That about sums it up. GM is investing a lot in a completely new 6th gen, so the Camaro should be around for quite a while.
