Same - Mobil full synthetic 5W-30.

One of the Sr. track techs recommended I use Red Line racing oil with more viscocity. I am looking into this. The Mobil One is to light for road course I am told.

Ended up sending out the engine block to LME in Texas and had it bored and stroked to a 416ci monster.

If the pump goes while driving you really have to hope it takes the engine out. Just think driving, pump goes, you pull over as fast as you can but hear noises from engine. WOULD YOU REALLY WANT THEM TO JUST REPLACE THE PUMP?

That is my fear for the moment - when my oil pressure dumped was coming off exit ramp, by the time I got it whoa'd down, it was making a lot of noise, think I might want more than a new pump?

Well I'm glad we finally got a Penzoil Platinum user to chime in, phew!

For a few instances there, I was beginning to think that.....

I have my blower going in at the end of march, should I get a new oil pump put in at that time? Will this solve ever having to worry about this?
I never want to deal with this. I have 3800 miles on my car.

I would. I haven't read any oil pump failures from anyone who swapped out

Many different oils used with pump issues. If you want to worry about oil check the thread awhile back about all the motors going bad with Mobil 1 with cam wear and lifter issues.

Scott, what about Amsoil, any issues with this and the stock pump. I change mine every 3000 to 4000 miles on my 2012 SS, 49000 miles and no issues as of yet. I do swear though one time I went 7000 miles and my engine was telling me something like change oil please.

Never heard of an Amsoil problem with lifters and cam wear. The oil pump though is a design flaw, could happen with any oil.

Update on Oil Pressure Issue

Talked to the dealer tech last evening - new motor on the way in a couple of weeks. When they dropped the pan to change pump, lots of chips - appears the crank buried itself into the thrust washer, all downhill from there.
