not a gimmick, if you have OnStar then State Farm will give you a discount: https://www.statefarm.com/insurance/...rive-safe-save however it is no different than the Progressive ODBII plug in.. you are basically allowing them access to your vehicles black box. personally I see this as voluntarily giving up you rights and freedoms and the information can be used against you in an accident investigation. also please note at the bottom of their page: Disclaimer *The safe driver discount may vary by state.

Really cold? That's weird though, I haven't had any troubles with mine, however I don't leave mine in the ignition when the cabin is freezing cold, I usually let it warm up for 10 minutes, maybe 20 if it's super cold.

Extra savings! Doesn't sound like much of a discount from what everyone else is saying, but every buck helps.
Sweet Camaro btw!

You're lucky you had a signal to have Onstar reach you. Usually when I go to gas station I lose XM reception because of the overhangs in the gas station.

It also says that if you drive more than what you told your agent when you first set up the insurance, your bill will go up. |

OnStar is done using cell service, not satellites.

I got an email from Onstar/State Farm a few months back. Offered 6 months free of OnStar just for contacting OnStar. They offered to provide me another 6 months free if I called my insurance (State Farm) to enroll. I skipped on that :P. So at the end of the day you can get up to a year of free Onstar if you get that offer...

I have State Farm as well. I do pay for my OnStar, but I also get the discount a lot of you are speaking of. I don't necessarily know how much it is, but on average I may put 4,000-5,000 miles a year. The discount may be at $3.50, I haven't looked, but if you saw $3.50 on the ground would you pick it up?
