Cool Vid, ok, so about this drifting thing. Of course I'm not saying I've ever done anything like that on a public road, but I like sliding around a corner as much as the next guy. It's fun.

But explain to me, do you get timed around the track or is it all style or what. I mean if a guy had a car set up not to drift, and then a similar car(say they are both Camaros) set up for drifting, and they went around the same track, not together, who would be faster I guess would be my question.

Typically, scored on the speed, angle, line, and style

I would love to go drifting...in someone elses camaro. Can't afford to be breaking things or upgrading all the time. Plus tires are expensive and not exactly fun to remove the rubber off of the quarter panels.

That would make it much easier.

Drifting is mostly about the "show" and the scoring is highly subjective (judges' opinions).

An autocross car would set lower lap times. The reason here is because drifting works the rear tires at a point well beyond the point where maximum rear tire grip is generated and the front tires are pointed the way they are so that they don't plant the front end and let the back end pass it all the way around. Think in terms of getting way too much wheelspin at the dragstrip and you'll be sort of on the right track here.

Autocrossing and road course driving - "grip style" driving to a drifter - is all about keeping all four tires operating as closely as possible to the peak tire grip that is available without going past it, not about throwing any of it away in style and smoke.

Drifting sure is impressive to watch, and it's interesting to note that while it started with RWD Asian imports fitted with hand-grenade engines, some of the smarter guys have already moved either up to V8 power or all the way over to US domestic ponycars.

You need to be able to steer the front tires considerably sharper than stock just to be able to get up to a huge "angle" ("yaw" to a chassis dynamics guy). Partly to be able to catch a slide that wants to keep going and come all the way around on you as well.
