I just replaced my windshield with a non OEM. Safelite did it at my work, and since I have $100 deductible with State Farm, that's what it cost me. I saw the full cost, and it was over $600. I have remote start, but no HUD.

I was trying to get an OEM replacement, but they were back ordered. Also, State Farm would have charged me the premium over their "capped" cost, so it would have been the $100 plus another $200 or more. My agent states that the OEM glass and non OEM are made in the same factory; one goes one way to be stamped, and one goes the other way for "non OEM". She's visited the factory where they are manufactured.

Either way, it's nice having clear glass again. All the friggin trucks and construction traffic around where I live makes for lots of pits, chips and general abuse to the glass.

Seriously? $800? I replaced a windshield not too long ago on another car with non-oem. $110. Are camaro windshields that expensive?

Didn't pay one dime here in Florida and my insurance with Allstate didn't go up either. Sorry about your Camaro and the hassle you have to go thru.

Good news! I called Geico and they have agreed to replace it with nothing other than OEM and cover it 100% all i have to pay is my deductible. SafeLite is ordering my glass today and I will make appointment once it arrives.

Damn that means I took the last camaor windshield. The crack in the middle of my windshield went all the way up yesterday as I was washing the car. I called Geico and they are having safelight come out Thursday (could have had any day this week but because of the rain I choose thursday) to replace the windsheild and it's only costing me 5 bucks because of the coverage I got.

What is this mysterious coverage you have so I can call geico and ensure I have it for future issues?

I'm wondering myself. I called them about a quote for the 2013 SS and it's nowhere near what it was when I did it online myself. I now pay 525 every 6 months for the 2012 1LT, they quoted me 545 every 6 months for the 2013 SS. apparently I have a great driving record, got the discount for being 25, federal government worker discount, first time having insurance under my name alone, the policy person on the phone owns a Camaro and they like the plans I have for mods I guess. either way I'm not complaining, I have full coverage.
