See... we're not ALL pricks

I went through one with my wife last night with the top down, after I showed him my badge (since I had a weapon on me), and then my driver license, he said "Gravy" and they all started drooling over my car. lol I love this car.

I didn't read it was a driver's license check point. You can just chill out and relax. If I go through a sobriety checkpoint, I will do a sobriety test. If I go through a driver's license check point I will present my license. If I am stopped at a roadblock, I will ask why. All our fallen heroes have not died so that in the end we must present our papers at random.
You seem very upset about my statement. I did not know it was a driver's license check point.

I've been told by several cops before in my state that I "have every right to not stop at the roadblock." and that they also "have every right to chase me down when I don't stop."

LOL.

How is he the idiot? Law enforcement can only conduct checkpoints if they did due diligence in notifying the public beforehand. Depending on your state, most states are not required for you to show your papers when stopped. For instance, in CA, you are only required to give your name and address when asked but paperwork is not required unless operating a vehicle. Also you have the right not to go through the check point if you wish by turning around. This has already been hashed out in the supreme court. If you want the "easy" way out...then sure, show your papers. For the rest that want to still retain what is left of their rights, turn around.

The guys from Germany. I'm sure he knows a thing or two about "showing their papers".

While turning around, both officers practically begged me to do a burnout!!! I declined. He tells me he knows its not stock. I tell him yes, long tube headers, k&n and tune. Says his Mopar would most likely not keep up! He wouldnt even try. I laughed and drove off slowly with both cops, hands in the air, saying do a burn out!
I would have a problem with doing the burnout too. I'd rev it for them or take off hard without spinning the tires and staying under the speed limit lol.

I've been through 5 road blocks. Never stopped once. 17 y/o in a firebird formula, 22 and 23 in a illegally tinted no front plate G8 GT and last week 23 in the Camaro.

Everyone always told me I was dumb for getting the cars I do being my age and police. I think police would rather see a young'n driving a nice american car then in a ricer.

Haven't been asked to do a burnout yet tho lol

Well it may so very state to state but comeon over to NC and don't stop for a checkpoint. You'll see right quick what happens to you. Oh you say just turn around...ya do that in NC too. Most people that have something to hide don't want to stop at checkpoints. If you're legit and have your stuff in order than its no big deal. Takes a minute of your time and your off. Its states like California that let their citizens overrun them and get by with nonsense.

Btw read this http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?...Police_v._Sitz and then come show me where the supreme court says its unconstitutional for a checkpoint to be conducted and where it says you don't need to stop.

lol what is wrong with you guys...I cannot believe 2 of you are whining about your rights over misused verbiage.

Random "ROADBLOCKS" do not happen anymore in most states. The OP or other posters just mistakenly classified it as a "road block". It is a checkpoint. Road blocks are only used in serious capital felony situations... murder, murder of a uniformed cop, or serial rapist and a few select forcible felonies. In Florida, they are no longer permitted to utilize them in pursuits unless deadly force exists...

Law enforcement agencies are only required to notify MEDIA OUTLETS of a pending check point... and the kicker, most media outlets never report it because it isn't breaking news. That is not the law enforcement agency's fault. Statute only requires due diligence and attempting contact.. there is no other manner which would be feasible. He came to a DL or DUI checkpoint, both of which are perfectly legal.. he didn't have his DL. No big deal. The officers are not required to "call in" every tag or DL they stop because YOU, the driver, committed a violation of not carrying a DL. Most states would permit a vehicle be impounded until proof is shown (yes I agree that is over the top)...

We yet again turned a humorous thread into a whine session.
